Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week! As we close out April, we begin the last month of the school year. These last 19 days of school will go by fast. Just to review dates, the seniors last day of normal class is May 14, semester tests will be on the 17 and 18th. Grades will be due May 19 at 7:30 am. Graduation breakfast is at 9, with practice to follow at 10. The senior awards ceremony will also be on the 19th at 6:30 pm in the MS Auditorium. Just a reminder about he PLC workshop in August. Please respond to Mrs. Leavitt's email about attending. PLC's will be the focus for our PD activities again. You will learn about classroom data collection and using that data to drive your instruction, guide our PLC discussions, and help identify department level PD needed. I can't stress the importance of us being on the same page, so please try to attend the 2 day workshop.  This is your last call to turn your contracts into me. I will take them today, But on Monday and T...

Happy Friday! On Tuesday, I was discussing what was left for us to get done this year with Mrs. Hill, it hit me how close we are to the end of the year. I do believe this is one year all of us will be glad to close out. But as I look forward to the end of year, I reflect back on what we have accomplished. We are probably one of the few schools in Iowa that can say we had live instruction every day we had school. This is in large part due to your efforts to help enforce our social distance, mask rules, and just making sure that our students and ourselves are being safe. For a time there during first semester, it seemed like this time of year would never come. We have also pushed our students and provided a somewhat sense of normal. Minus a few of our mitigation efforts, we were able to educate the youth of Le Mars.  Just a couple of reminders,  you can put your signed contracts on the basket on my desk and I'll send them over to Central Office. They are due on May 4. Senior sem...

Happy Friday! Well we survived prom! Thank you to Mrs. Isebrand and Mrs. Ludwig for organizing the grand march and dance. Thank you to Mr. Wingert for streaming the event. And thank you to those that helped supervise. For the most part the kids did a decent job with keeping their masks on. I am sure the ones that give you trouble in the classroom with them were the same ones that we had to talk with at the dance.  Reminder you can put your signed contracts on the basket on my desk and I'll send them over to Central Office. They are due on May 4.  ISASP Info The writing test will be taken in advisory on Tuesday, May 4. This will be for grades 9-11 only, Seniors will have an open during the writing test. The reading, math, and science exams will be taken in the English, Math, and Biology classes. We will run a block schedule on Thursday, May 6 and Friday, May 7. Even classes will be on Thursday, odd classes will be F...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had an enjoyable short week, back to normal weeks from here on out. I have had a few questions about the ISASP. The writing test will be taken in advisory on Tuesday, May 4. The reading, math, and science exams will be taken in the English, Math, and Biology classes. We will run a block schedule on Thursday, May 6 and Friday, May 7. Even classes will be on Thursday, odd classes will be Friday. All students will have an open lunch on Thursday and Friday.  On April 28, we will be giving the annual Conditions for Learning survey to the students. This is a requirement by the state. Please encourage the students to give honest feedback on the survey. We will be running a different schedule that day. We will want to make sure the students are aware that they need to pick up their computers before heading to 1st period. They will be considered late at 8:25. Pick up Computers  Period 1 - 8:25 - 9:06 ...

Happy Friday! It is hard to believe we completed another week. For me, these weeks are flying by to fast. I didn't think that was possible. I am still working on the master schedule for next year. I am waiting to hear back from Western Iowa Tech regarding a couple college classes that we are hoping to bring back in the science department. Once I hear about those, I will need to open registration back up for the Juniors and Seniors to allow them to add these courses if they want. My goal is to have schedules done by the end of April so I can get the master schedule out to you and the student schedules out so they can make any changes if necessary. Next week we do have only a 4 day week, so this will be the Friday Focus for next week as well. Hopefully you will have a chance to have some time to relax over spring break! When we come back on April 7, we do have a 7:00 am meeting. Prom is on April 10, I will be visiting with Plymouth County P...

Happy Friday! As everyone has heard, our Covid rates are going up in the community. Our county rate is 9.9 and our zip code rate was 16.1 on Tuesday. We have also seen an uptick in the number of positive cases in the building. It is vital that you are enforcing the mask policy in your classroom. Kyle and I will be checking for enforcement as we go around the school. This is something we shouldn't have to do. Regardless of your personal feelings or beliefs, masks must be worn at all times by students. You need to wear a mask whenever you are not alone in your classroom.  You have probably all seen the the UK variant has been found in Plymouth County. From what I understand, it doesn't pose a greater health risk, but it is more contagious.  Track and Soccer participants do not have to wear the masks when they are running the hallways. If they are standing around, they should have them on. Hopefully this snow melts soon and they can be ba...

Happy Friday and end of third quarter! We are starting to go down the home stretch. Grades will be due Monday at 8:00 am. Report cards will then be mailed home. Please make sure you have comments in Q3. If you have a senior who will not mathematically pass your class for the semester, let me know ASAP. I will be sending out at-risk letters on Tuesday. I want to be able to correctly identify who those seniors are that are at-risk of not graduating.  We are starting to see a rise in the county Covid rates in the last week. This morning, our 14 day average was 8.3 and the 7 day average was 10.6. We need to stay on the students about wearing their masks. Remind them if we see a spike in school positives along with what is happening in the community, prom could be in jeopardy.  Thank you for your work on Wednesday during in-service. I know the ISASP training video was not the most exciting video in the world to watch, but we had to get it done bef...
