Happy Friday! As everyone has heard, our Covid rates are going up in the community. Our county rate is 9.9 and our zip code rate was 16.1 on Tuesday. We have also seen an uptick in the number of positive cases in the building. It is vital that you are enforcing the mask policy in your classroom. Kyle and I will be checking for enforcement as we go around the school. This is something we shouldn't have to do. Regardless of your personal feelings or beliefs, masks must be worn at all times by students. You need to wear a mask whenever you are not alone in your classroom.
You have probably all seen the the UK variant has been found in Plymouth County. From what I understand, it doesn't pose a greater health risk, but it is more contagious.
Track and Soccer participants do not have to wear the masks when they are running the hallways. If they are standing around, they should have them on. Hopefully this snow melts soon and they can be back outside for practice.
Prom is still scheduled for April 10. After my discussions with Plymouth County Health, we most likely will be having our dance unless the rates really shoot up or we see an increase in positive cases in school. Remind upperclassman, if they want a prom, wear their masks. At our current rate, there will not be a traditional grand march. We will come up with an alternative that can be streamed, but it won't be like it has in the past. April 1 is our cutoff to purchase a ticket for prom and after prom. This will give us a solid number to make our decision on how prom will look.
Congrats to all the students that earned a Division 1 rating at the State IE Speech contest. Also congrats to Mrs. Permeswaran, Mrs. Ohrlund, and Ms. Grell for another successful speech season!
Looking ahead, our next shelter drill on the 31st at 9:20 am.
Have a Great Weekend!

I plan to send out Open information to Juniors early next week. Right now, we are planning to lower the requirement to 4 hours of service. We may raise that as the year goes on for the second semester if more things open up. I plan on being more flexible with how students earn hours due to the pandemic. If you need help with things, like moving rooms at the end of the year, or anything before or after school please let students know they can count those hours. Students that are working in groups, like the Art Club students, could count those hours when they put in the time to help out the school or community.
NHS Induction is next Monday. Those Juniors on NHS will get Opens for the remainder of the year. Please let me know if any of those students are falling behind at anytime. If you have a Study Hall you may see some changes in the roster starting next Tuesday.
I would like to reiterate what Dr. Iverson has said about the masks. I've had far more mask violations this past week than we have had in the past couple of months. Please remind classes of the expectations to keep masks on at all times. I found this picture of my first time visiting the school last year and it was a sad
time we need to make sure we avoid moving forward.

Ideas from the library/video class/student council
Junior and senior teachers, please remind students to purchase their prom tickets. Required paperwork and money is due in the office. Many of the students I talked to didn't realize they could buy them already (Sigh). The junior prom committees have really been working hard to make this prom special. We are hoping for the best case scenarios, but planning for alternative setups. However, they will be ready to make it look wonderful no matter the conditions.
My video media students will be working on interviews and run-n-guns in the next few weeks. They meet 6th hour, but many have study halls in which they may be conducting some of these. If you are willing to be interviewed (even for their practice), please let me know and when you have an open time. Thank you for your cooperation!
