March 12, 2021
Happy Friday and end of third quarter! We are starting to go down the home stretch. Grades will be due Monday at 8:00 am. Report cards will then be mailed home. Please make sure you have comments in Q3. If you have a senior who will not mathematically pass your class for the semester, let me know ASAP. I will be sending out at-risk letters on Tuesday. I want to be able to correctly identify who those seniors are that are at-risk of not graduating.
We are starting to see a rise in the county Covid rates in the last week. This morning, our 14 day average was 8.3 and the 7 day average was 10.6. We need to stay on the students about wearing their masks. Remind them if we see a spike in school positives along with what is happening in the community, prom could be in jeopardy.
Thank you for your work on Wednesday during in-service. I know the ISASP training video was not the most exciting video in the world to watch, but we had to get it done before ISASP. Reminder ISASP will be the first week in May, not the week of April 12.
Next year for our professional development we will be getting back to our focus on using the PLC principles to guide classroom decision making. We will use these four questions to guide us. 1. What do we want all students to know and be able to do? 2. How will we know if they learn it? 3. How will we respond when some students do not learn? 4. How will we extend the learning for students who are already proficient? When I look at how many staff has had the formal PLC training, we will be down to 7 of our 40 staff members. Mrs. Leavitt is working on getting a PLC workshop here in August before school starts. This would be an excellent opportunity for everyone to get on the same page in regards to PLC's.
Requisitions for next year are due Monday. If you know you will need to get supplies throughout the year, please let me know this or I won't budget enough in your area's line item.
Looking ahead, our next extra hour meeting is on March 17, our last screener will be on March 17, shelter drill on the 31st at 9:20 am. District in-service is on the 10.
Have a Great Weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings
One year ago, we all went home this weekend last year and had no idea how quickly things were going to change. We have had to handle new issues that were unprecedented and I wanted to use this week to thank all of you for everything we have accomplished this year. We have remained in school and have done our best to keep everyone safe while still preparing students for their futures. You all have brought enthusiasm and an amazing effort to keep students learning at a high level. Many of you and our students have missed out on a "normal" year but that hasn't stopped us from reaching the 4th quarter a year after the quarantine began. Again thank you all, every staff member, and all of our students for making that possible this year. You should be proud of everything you have accomplished and will still accomplish before the end of the year!
Also, thank you for all the well-wishes with baby Levi! We are adjusting well to life as a family of five!
Ideas from the library/video class/student council
Richard Byrne's provides an update on Kahoot: Kahoot question & answer screens
PROM: Jr. Sr. teachers, please advise students that they must purchase a prom ticket by March 24. Tickets can still be purchased until April 9, but they will not receive a t-shirt for after prom at that point.
Student Council has put up rainbows ending in the pot of gold for each grade level. (Seniors are finishing theirs as I type). Each gold piece represents each student with a positive message for the student. Students are encouraged to take their name if they so desire. (some have already done this, so it may look like we forgot a few kids).
Library: please remind students to renew/return their books. We send out weekly emails as reminders. However, a majority of the books checked out were done so in August or September and have not been renewed since. I have also written letters home for the books that were checked out last year before shut down and are still not returned. Another reminder from other teachers would really help me out.
Our policy is not to allow students to work in the library during study halls if the student has a D or F. We had been allowing them to do so if they needed help from another student. However, I'm not seeing a lot of work being done lately. So, starting Monday, they must have a pass from the teacher for which they need work done, and they will be sitting at a table by him/herself. I will be glad to help them out if they need help, (when I am there). I want them to succeed and will scaffold that as much as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
