Happy Friday! It is hard to believe we completed another week. For me, these weeks are flying by to fast. I didn't think that was possible. I am still working on the master schedule for next year. I am waiting to hear back from Western Iowa Tech regarding a couple college classes that we are hoping to bring back in the science department. Once I hear about those, I will need to open registration back up for the Juniors and Seniors to allow them to add these courses if they want. My goal is to have schedules done by the end of April so I can get the master schedule out to you and the student schedules out so they can make any changes if necessary.
Next week we do have only a 4 day week, so this will be the Friday Focus for next week as well. Hopefully you will have a chance to have some time to relax over spring break! When we come back on April 7, we do have a 7:00 am meeting.
Prom is on April 10, I will be visiting with Plymouth County Public Health to finalize our plans on April 1. I anticipate we will have the dance, but grand march will be virtual. There are a lot of rumors floating around about prom, you can assure the students we are not taping squares on the floor for them to dance in to social distance.
During our in-service on April 14, we will be meeting in the library to start off and Kristen Fober will lead us in a session on ELL strategies. After the session is done, you will have time to work on your curriculum or meet as a department to discuss the coming weeks or start planning for next year.
In August, the district is bringing Solution Tree back for a 2 day workshop on PLC's. For those of you who attended the PLC's workshop in Minneapolis, it will be similar to general sessions presented by the DuFours. This is a great opportunity for us to have the staff attend a training to help get us all on the same page in regards to what PLC's are about. This will again become the driving force for professional development and how we do business. Mrs. Leavitt will be sending out a survey in a few weeks asking if you will attend this workshop. I would high encourage everyone to attend, as it will be worth your time.
Looking ahead, our next shelter drill on the 31st at 9:20 am. On April 8, we have an evacuation drill scheduled for 1:05 pm. April 16 will be the 4th quarter midterm date. All PASS Plans need to be completed by this date.
Have a Great Weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings
We have been working to revise our consequences for our mask policy. We are nearing the end of the year and it is becoming more difficult to simply remove a student and expect them to be able to finish the remainder of the semester online while having them also restart everything they have done. I know this has also been difficult for teachers to enforce it, knowing these students would be forced into that position. These are more consequence based but still leave the option to remove the student if they flat out refuse to wear a mask. That being said, we are hopeful this new plan will make it easier to enforce for the rest of year. The following is the revised plan:
1st Offense- Student will be given a verbal warning and given a mask to wear for the day.
2nd Offense- Parent will be called about the student not wearing a mask, student will be given a mask to wear for the day. Student will serve a 30 minute detention.
3rd Offense- Parent will be called and expected to bring a mask for the student to wear for the day. 1 Hour detention will be served.
4th Offense- Student will serve a 1-day In-School Suspension
5th Offense- Student will serve a 3-day Out of School Suspension and have a Parent Meeting before returning to school.
6th Offense- 5-day Out of School Suspension.
7th Offense- Student will be excluded for a length of time TBD, may include move to the Remote Learning option for the remainder of the grading period.
*Students who refused to wear a mask even after being provided one for the day will receive an OSS.
I was able to stop at a couple of Junior Advisories to discuss Opens. I will be around the the rest next week. If you have any ideas for students please let them know of other ideas on how to complete the service hours. If you need help with things in your classrooms please let them know so they can start working on their hours.
Lastly, I am planning to have one more student voice group before the break. I will email out the time once I know for sure but I am looking at holding it 8th hour next Tuesday or Wednesday. Enjoy your weekends and extended break the following week!

Google extensions have offered text-to-speech options before, but here is a reminder of one that works for websites as well AND in 40+ languages: READ ALOUD
Tired of kids playing mindless games when they are done with everything? Encourage them to try FREE RICE For every correct answer, 5 grains of rice are donated to the World Food Programme. Initially, there was only English vocabulary and basic math facts, but now there are multiple categories, including history, geography, science, and vocabulary for multiple languages. Students may create a log in or just play without one.
