Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a relaxing spring break. These last few weeks of school are going to cruise on by.  We have hired a new science teacher for next year. His name is Thane Jackson. Thane will be graduating from Iowa State in May with his masters in Science Education. His undergraduate degree is in Biology. Thane's hometown is Clarion. He will be teaching Physics, Engineer Your World, Anatomy, and Human Physiology. We are excited to welcome him into the Bulldog family.  I will now get started on creating the master schedule. I am hoping to have it completed by the end of April so we can get schedules out to students prior to the summer vacation.  The school year is also coming to a very quick end for our seniors. Their last day of regular class is May 8. Those seniors that have to take semester test will take them on May 11 and May 12. Students have until the end of 5th period on the 12th to get their test completed. This will give the office ti...

Friday Focus Happy Friday! Today is the last day of ISASP, the sophomores will take the science assessment. The commons and library will be closed from 8:30 to 10:00 for the test.  I would appreciate any feedback you may have on the week as I am always trying to find ways to improve how we give the ISASP.  It is hard to believe this is the last Friday Focus for March. The time is moving much too fast and there is so much left to do this school year. I am kind of at a stand still with the master schedule as we have the science opening for next year.  Prom is quickly approaching. I am sure those of you that have Junior advisory's are very excited for this opportunity.  I would also encourge you to check out the teacher handbook to see if you have graduation duty this year. Graduation duty is not assigned to the senior advisory teachers, as I need 10 workers every year. Some years we do not have 10 senior advisory t...

Friday Focus Happy Friday! Hasn't the change in the weather been great!! Now hopefully we can avoid anymore of the white stuff. The day we missed on Monday will not have to be made up as long as we do not have another full day missed. The board will not have the students come back for one day after Memorial Day, which is what Monday's no school would do.  March Madness is in full swing, you may want to go "old school" and not have the students use their Chromebooks if you are finding students watching basketball games.  I am still at a stand still for the master schedule for next year. We do have an interview set up for next week for the science position. If you know any science teachers, please encourage them to apply. On Wednesday, I sent a survey to the teachers to fill out for the Plymouth County Bar Association Scholarship and American Citzenship Award. The deadline to fill out survey it today at 3:30 pm. Please refer back ...

Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week.  I will be out of the building again today. I will be in Des Moines so Tanner can swim in the Iowa Senior Short Course Championships. This will be a fun 3 days of swimming.  Please note the end of the quarter is March 10 and it will be here before you know it. Grades will be due on March 12 and we will send out report cards at that time. The 2nd trimester ended on Wednesday of this week. I hope to store grades sometime in the next 3 days when I am in Des Moines.  I have started to schedule department meetings for the next couple of weeks to go over course numbers for next year. Please also remember that requistions are due on March 16. If you are ordering any type of "office supplies", those will need to be sent to Amy so we can do one large order.  We are doing driver's education the same way as we did it last year. They will be starting class on Saturday, March...

Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. The way the students were behaving, I would have thought we were getting 2 feet of snow.  Judd and Melissa are getting closer to having 95% of our students registered. I will be starting to send meeting invites out to departments to discuss registration numbers for 26-27. Also, please remember to start on your 26-27 requisitions. Please refer back to Mrs. Holzman's email regarding the format of the requisitions. If it does not meet what she needs, I'll need to reject it so you can redo it.  I am happy to announce we have filled our new PE, Head Strength position. Bryant Dutcher will be joining us to take on this position. He is a graduate of Buena Vista and is currently teaching at Sioux City East. Next school year, we are starting a new class called Bulldog Strength and Speed. We are strongly encouraging all of our athletes to take this course to get their strength training don...
