Friday Focus Happy Friday! It is our first 3 day weekend of the school year and officially week 1 of the college football season. I wish your team luck unless they are playing Oklahoma or if it is UT, nobody really likes the shorthorns anyway.   Tuesday would be a good day to refresh your students on the classroom rules and procedures. The honeymoon phase this year is not near as long as it has been in the past, usually we can make it to homecoming.  On September 16, during 3rd and 4th period, I will be administering the Civics Exams to 70+ seniors that have not taken this exam yet. This is a new state requirement for graduation. Students must earn a 60% or higher sometime during their 4 years in high school. Students will be taking this exam normally in government class their Junior year. Students can take it as many times as needed. Homecoming and Parent Teacher Conferences will be here before you know it.  Homecoming 2026 Monday, September 28 - Airport Adve...

Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great first full week of school. I know I am a little more tired than I have been in a while.  I want to thank everyone for hitting our policies hard with the students. If we continue to do this, the rest of the year will be much easier. I am taking cell phones and earbuds from students when I see them with them in the hallway during class time. My guess is the students didn't believe we would do this.  I think the start of the year has gone very smoothly, this in large part due to all of you. Again, thank you for all you do for our students. With the start of September, we do have 2 building in-service days this month. CIA will send agendas out to the staff the week we have those inservices.  As some of you started to hear this week, Nohava has moved onto the high school to replace our roof and skylights. Most of the skylights in the classrooms will be done this week. Next week they will be doing the skylight in the...

Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Please don't forget to grab lunch in the lounge today. This is just a small token of appreciation for all that you do.  Now is a dad brag: If you see Tessa, Sadie Meyer, Kinnick Leusink, and Claire Susemihl congratulate them for breaking the school and conference record in the shuttle hurdle relay.  It is hard to believe it is May 8 already and we only have 7 days of regular classes left. Mrs. Leavitt will be sending information out regarding summer professional development. We will post our QR codes by the mailboxes. You will have 15 hours again to learn about something that interests you and is applicable to your position.  Today is the last day for our Seniors. If they are not taking your semester test, please sign their checkout sheets today. Seniors will need to turn in their Chromebook to the library. Cody and/or Tracy will be in there to collect the computers. Seniors will take their semester tests...

Friday Focus Happy May Day! As a kid, I remember making May Day baskets and delivering them to your friends house. At least in Vermillion, we would leave it by the door, ring the doorbell, and then run. Maybe it was just a Westside Vermillion thing, Deb can speak for what the eastside did. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week , and Adam and I will be providing lunch on Friday. I truly appreciate your dedication and willingness to work with students—even when challenging. Your professionalism and commitment to doing what's best for students never wavers. Just a reminder that all teacher contracts have been handed out, those are due next Friday to Central Office. I do have a trey on my desk if you want to hand it in to me and I'll get it to Central Office.  Seniors are down to a week. There are a few that are in jeopardy of not making it. Please let me know if you have a senior and that student will not make it.  At the end of the year, the district will not be holding the end...

Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. We are winding April down rather quickly now.  Just a reminder that all teacher contracts have been handed out, those are due on May 8 to Central Office. I do have a trey on my desk if you want to hand it in to me and I'll get it to Central Office.  The seniors are getting closer to graduation. I have several that are failing classes that are needed for graduation. I encourage you to call home and talk to the parents to let them know what their student needs to get done to pass your class. I am also communicating with parents, but I can't tell them what needs to be done to pass. Seniors final day of class is May 8. They will take semester tests on May 11 and 12. On May 12 all tests need to be done by the end of 5th period.  Senior grades are due at 8:00 am on May 13 . This is a hard deadline as Mrs. Davis will need to run final awards for that night. All seniors will need to have 50 credits at this ti...

Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. I know a few of us are really excited for tomorrow.  I would like you to look at the PASS Plan spreadsheet to make sure you have turned in a PASS Plan to me. If it is not on there, then I don't have it documented it took place. A student can not fail a class if there was no PASS Plan.   The seniors are getting closer to graduation. I have several that are failing classes that are needed for graduation. I encourage you to call home and talk to the parents to let them know what their student needs to get done to pass your class.
