Friday Focus

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. I will be out of the building again today. I will be in Des Moines so Tanner can swim in the Iowa Senior Short Course Championships. This will be a fun 3 days of swimming. 

Please note the end of the quarter is March 10 and it will be here before you know it. Grades will be due on March 12 and we will send out report cards at that time. The 2nd trimester ended on Wednesday of this week. I hope to store grades sometime in the next 3 days when I am in Des Moines. 

I have started to schedule department meetings for the next couple of weeks to go over course numbers for next year. Please also remember that requistions are due on March 16. If you are ordering any type of "office supplies", those will need to be sent to Amy so we can do one large order. 

We are doing driver's education the same way as we did it last year. They will be starting class on Saturday, March 7 and will meet every Saturday except for April 4. This gets all the classwork done prior to school being dismissed. 

Recognizing Excellence

The Le Mars Community School District Foundation and the Le Mars Community School Alumni Association are now accepting nominations for the jointly sponsored 2026 Decades of Excellence Crystal Bell “Teacher of the Year” Award.

This award honors teachers who demonstrate excellence in education by meeting the diverse needs of students. It also financially rewards teachers who exemplify the excellence celebrated by the Decades of Excellence Reunion 2000.

Award Details

One teacher will be selected to receive two $500 awards:

Nominations

Students, parents/guardians, fellow teachers, administrators, and community members are welcome to submit nominations. Nominations may be submitted individually or jointly by more than one nominator.

Detailed instructions and eligibility criteria are available on the nomination form.

All nomination forms must be submitted to the Superintendent’s Office by Friday, March 13, 2026.

Assistant Principal's Happenings

It's been very active two weeks in the AP's office.  Thank you for continuing to uphold high standards for student behavior, even when they test us.  

Our ultimate goal for all students is for them to learn behavior and skills that sets them on the right path to be successful in life.  I've had to remind myself of this a few times recently, especially when I feel that student behavior is directed at me -- it feels "personal".  That's the time I need most to take a step back and remember the big picture.

Next week we will be getting back to normal with no dress up days, etc.  Let's continue to choose excellence as we make the push for ISASPs and beyond.

  Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. We made it through graduation breakfast, practice, and award night. I was thinking that Wednesday is just as about as busy of a day as the Friday of homecoming for me.  This will be the last Friday Focus for the school year, so I'll try to remember to have everything you need to know to get through the last week of classes. Please remember contracts are due to Central Office on the 23rd. I do have a basket on my desk where you can turn it into me and I'll get it to Central Office.   We will be running the advisory schedule on Monday. On Tuesday, we will use the last day of school schedule. On the last day of classes students will be checking out. Please sign their check out sheets. If they have school property that needs to be returned, please document it on the sheet. During advisory that day, they will turn in their laptops.   Friday Focus Happy Friday!   I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is midterm of the 1st quarter. Please make sure all grades are up to date. Amy will run midterms and we will hand them out during 8th period.   I have had my first PASS plan turned in, congrats to Ms. Hommes to be the first one to get one done. Unfortuately is is for a senior that needs his credits. Next week is homecoming, let the fun begin. Monday night at 7:30 pm is the coronation. Come out to the competition gym to see who will be crowned this year's King and Queen.  On Monday, we will have class meetings so students can sign up for the different competitions. Freshmen will be in the Little Theater, Sophomores in the Library, Juniors in the Commons, and Seniors in the Competition Gym. Teachers with the asterick by their name in the Teacher Handbook are the lead teachers and will need to take charge of these meetings.  Dress up days for Homecoming Week. YOU CAN PARTICIPATE!...

Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week , and Adam and I will be providing lunch on Friday. I truly appreciate your dedication and willingness to work with students—even when challenging. Your professionalism and commitment to doing what's best for students never wavers. Senior Information It's hard to believe that next week will be the seniors' last week of regular classes. On Friday, seniors will be checking out with their teachers. Please sign their checkout sheets if they don't need to take semester tests on Monday or Tuesday. Seniors must turn these sheets into the office before leaving for the day. IMPORTANT: Senior grades are due by 8:00 AM on May 14. This is a firm deadline as Mrs. Davis needs to prepare final awards for that evening.
