Friday Focus

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Please don't forget to grab lunch in the lounge today. This is just a small token of appreciation for all that you do.

It is hard to believe it is May 8 already and we only have 7 days of regular classes left. Mrs. Leavitt will be sending information out regarding summer professional development. We will post our QR codes by the mailboxes. You will have 15 hours again to learn about something that interests you and is applicable to your position.

Today is the last day for our Seniors. If they are not taking your semester test, please sign their checkout sheets today. Seniors will need to turn in their Chromebook to the library. Cody and/or Tracy will be in there to collect the computers. Seniors will take their semester tests on Monday and Tuesday. They need to have all the tests done by the end of 5th on Tuesday. Senior final grades are due at 8:00 am on Wednesday, May 13.

I have been asked about the semester tests for other the other grades. Students will need to remain in the classroom the entire testing time. They can not leave early to go to another room or to leave the building. A student may move a test if it benefits you, otherwise they need to take it when they are scheduled. Remember, they can't leave another class early to come to your room to take a test. We don't want them to hurry through a test to get to another one. Final grades will be due before you check out on the 26th.

Assistant Principal's Happenings

As we close Teacher Appreciation Week, Doc and I would like to express how much we appreciate each of you.  THANK YOU for choosing to be a Bulldog.  You could do anything, but you are here -  helping our kids.  We appreciate you.

Thank you to our CIA team for providing another great year of professional development.  PD isn't always a favorite thing to do, but our CIA crew is top-notch and knocked it out of the park this year, again.  Its not easy to stand in front of your peers and put yourself out there like that.  Not to mention all the hours they put into their work.  They put their heart into this work, and it shows.  Say "thank-you" to a CIA member today.

I've been tired recently and in need of an attitude adjustment -- two staff members unknowingly helped me change my attitude this week:

A) One staff member told me about how she had a teacher that would respond to the question, "How are you?" with "Super great..... and getting better!".  I've been trying to do that the last few days and I have been surprised by how much it has made me smile -- by telling people I am doing "super good", it has made me laugh and has helped my attitude a lot -- thank you for sharing that story with me.

B) The second staff member asked if I had seen "Principal Lamb" with his cart on the interwebs.  I have.  He recently had a post with "Principal Statistics" for the day.  Our fellow staff member challenged me to do this, so I did.  It was fun.

"Cart of Justice" Stats for Thursday, 5/7:

Steps: 9,973 -- higher than normal
"Good mornings" said to students before school: 66
Students that returned this dayspring greeting:  52, better than expected.
(I found that using their name helps!)
Detention/Attendance Contract reminders given: 7
New detentions given: 4, a quiet day
Number of times being called "unfair": also 4
Conversations with staff: 9
Substitutes checked on: 7
Conversations with students:  21, but I stopped keeping track
Classes covered for a teacher:  1
Student printer issues:  2
Parent phone calls or meetings:  8
Number of students/staff that I startled, accidentally: 3
Data reporting: 1
Restroom checks: 8
Help with student homework: 1
Cans of caffeine consumed: 2
Ibuprofen taken: 3
Number of times cart stolen by rogue staff members: 0

Overall, a great day!  Let's remind each other that it is within our power to choose our outlook and attitude.

Let's finish strong, together!

Grateful for our team -- Moss
