Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is midterm of 1st quarter. Amy will run those reports in the morning and will get put them in your mailbox to handout to your 8th period class. Students with opens 8th period will need to get them in the office.  During advisory on Monday, we will have class meetings. These teachers are the chairpersons for each class: Freshmen - Hessenius & Vickery, Sophomores - Eckstaine and Krook-Brunette, Juniors - Mena and Tentinger, and Seniors - Carter and Ruba. During the class meeting, the task to complete will be signing up the teams for the competitions on Friday. Each student may only be in one competition so they need to plan accordingly. Seniors will meet in the little theater, Juniors in the commons, Sophomores in the competition gym, and Freshmen in the library. Next week is homecoming.     Happy Friday the Thirteenth! I hope everyone has had a good week. I am glad no one got hurt on Wednesday with the fly swatter activity. I did see a few groups getting kind of competitive. Thank you to MTSS and CIA for their work in getting us ready for our professional development and goal writing with our students. I have noticed on our attendance reports that some students are not being marked absent or the wrong code is being marked. Please make sure that you are taking attendance and marking all students absent that are not there, use the TRU code. I have seen the UT and the ET code used when students were absent. Please add this in your sub notes so the subs know which code to use to mark a student absent.   Midterm is quickly approaching. With that in mind, the MTSS committee will be looking at our early warning system data to see what students may need more interventions either because of attendance or current grades. Students with grade issues will be ass...

Happy Friday!  I don't know about you, but I always think the short weeks seem to take more out of me than the normal 5 day school week. Maybe I am trying to squeeze too much into the 4 days.  I hope everyone had a great week! Adam and I are trying to make an effort to be out in the halls more. I am also starting to visit classrooms. I have made into a few classrooms this week already and have seen some good activities taking place. Please continue to challenge our students and push them out of their comfort zones.  Some dates you will want to keep in mind: September 11 - In-Service, September 18 - Evac Drill, September 21 - Midterm, September 25 - In-Service, and September 27 - Homecoming. For the evac drill, if your classes crosses 3rd Ave, please make sure the students are up on the sidewalk and not standing in the street. Chief Schipper asked that we remind the students as they will have fire trucks coming down the street. Otherwise, he was happy with our...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great first full week of school. I know I am a little more tired than I have been in a while. I need to build up that endurance again.  I want to thank everyone for hitting our new policies hard with the students. If we continue to do this, the rest of the year will be much easier. I am taking cell phones and earbuds from students when I see them with them in the hallway during class time. My guess is the students didn't believe we would do this.  I think the start of the year has gone very smoothly, this in large part due to all of you. Again, thank you for all you do for our students. We do have a small group of Freshmen boys that are taking a little longer to figure it out, but they will get there. Great job with the evac drill yesterday, I do think it was our smoothest first drills of the year.  With the start of September, we do have 2 building in-service days this month. CIA will send agendas out to the staff the week we ha...

Happy Friday! This will be my last Friday Focus of the school year. I hope you all have had a great week. We made it through graduation practice and the awards night. I am trying to decide which day is busier, the homecoming Friday or this past Wednesday. Although I was rather impressed with the seniors this year, they actually listened and did a good job.  I met with Judd and Melissa this week to discuss summer school. Right now, we show quite a few students that are failing one or more classes. If the student ends up failing your class, please look at the percentage and if they are close please consider credit recovery as an option. If credit recovery is not an option, then the student will take the class on Edmentum.  Just a reminder on our expectations for semester tests. Students will need to remain in the classroom the entire testing time. They can not leave early to go to another room or to leave the building. ...
