Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great first full week of school. I know I am a little more tired than I have been in a while. I need to build up that endurance again.
I want to thank everyone for hitting our new policies hard with the students. If we continue to do this, the rest of the year will be much easier. I am taking cell phones and earbuds from students when I see them with them in the hallway during class time. My guess is the students didn't believe we would do this.
I think the start of the year has gone very smoothly, this in large part due to all of you. Again, thank you for all you do for our students. We do have a small group of Freshmen boys that are taking a little longer to figure it out, but they will get there. Great job with the evac drill yesterday, I do think it was our smoothest first drills of the year.
With the start of September, we do have 2 building in-service days this month. CIA will send agendas out to the staff the week we have those inservices. On that September 11 early out, I would like to meet with all the aides to discuss our reunification plan. We will meet in the conference room at 1:40 to go over this information.
Reminder about the Boys Town skills that we identified. Please take the time to go over these skills with your advisory on Tuesday. Mr. Irwin is also going to have a meeting for any girl interested in soccer for this spring during advisory on Tuesday. Also, please make sure you have watched the Bloodborne Pathogen video found on the first day agenda on my website. You also need to sign the paper in the lounge indicating you watched the video.
One final reminder that all students have the ALICE Training today. Freshmen will be during 2nd hour, Sophomores during 3rd, Juniors during 4th, and Seniors during 6th. Have your students report to class for attendance and then bring them to the Little Theater. I would like you to stay and help monitor the students during this time. If you have a mixed grade level class, you may stay back with the other grade level. I would like the aides to attend the training with the students so they can have the refresher also.
Please make sure your Welcome Letters are in the shared drive. I will be going through those this weekend. Also, don't forget Tier 2 plans need to be uploaded by Sunday.
Enjoy the three day weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings
Happy Friday!
I join Mark in thanking you for a great start to the year. I love telling parents what a fantastic staff we have at LCHS. Thank you for all you do.
Keep fighting the good fight with enforcing the rules on cell phones, dress code, tardies, etc. I feel one reason we have gotten off to a good start is that you have been consistent across the board with these things so far. Keep it up -- it is still early in the year.
I have several things I am working on in response to our Boys Town training. You will eventually be receiving small posters for your room with the 3 "slogans" we agreed to during the morning of that training. I've also had the opportunity to practice my BT skills with some students in my office.
Soon you will receive a short questionnaire on behalf of the SSFC. If you would like your birthday recognized, please be sure to fill it out.
Homecoming is also coming up. A big thank you to Rachel Cunningham and Mike Bahr for taking over StuCo and all the work you are putting in. Eventually you will see a HoCo week duty sign up coming from me. We briefly discussed it in our beginning of the year staff meeting, but remember that you will have a duty that week and it may likely involve the parade or coronation in some capacity. It takes a whole staff to make this big event happen and it is a unique way that our communities celebrate LCHS. Our parade may be the largest HoCo parade in the state.
Thanks again for all you do. Enjoy your well-earned three-day weekend.
