Happy Friday! It was nice to see of you this week. I look forward to these meetings as way to stay in touch. In the Spanish group meeting we talked about  how terrible it  would be to do business this way all  the time. It is hard to see  the different personalities of each person.  In our other groups we had some good discussion on the enrichments and some of our frustrations on the lack of students doing some of the enrichments. Just remember we do have some students working on these lessons and they are growing academically. I know my thought process during this  time has been to  do what is best for the students, which I know  all of you  are thinking that  way also. Thank for  all  you have been doing for the students of LCHS and trying to give them  some sense of normalcy or doing the best we can. Happy Friday! We just completed week 5 of our COVID 19 closure. Thank you for getting lessons online for our students. On Tuesday, Amy Davis and I handed out the fundraiser items to the Juniors that sold them. Many of the students I talked to echoed how they are missing school and seeing us. Most of them were appreciative for the lessons that are being posted.  Teachers, Administrative Assistance, Nurse, and Counselors should have received their contracts for next year in the mail. Please make sure you sign your contract and send it back in with the enclosed envelope. As for the aides, your contracts will be mailed out as soon as Kyle and I have met with Dr. Webner to discuss our aide time for next year. Since the Governor didn't announce what will happen to us yesterday, we should find out today at 11:00 am.  I will be calling the students who do not have internet access to see if they would like paper copies of the lessons. Happy Friday! I hope everyone is doing well 4 weeks into our virtual learning. Next week kicks off a new phase of our virtual learning. As we move towards creating lessons that focus on new content, please remember to consult with the Sped and/or Ell teachers. We want to make sure we have lessons appropriate for those students as well.  Our biggest debate now in Cabinet is how do we get materials for those who do not have internet at home. The elementary buildings have this a little bit easier, as those teachers see 25-28 kids. Some of you see over 175 students in a day. If you have not had a chance to fill out the google spreadsheet on internet access for your advisory please do so. This document will help Cabinet come up with a plan for those kids without internet. If you do not remember or were not there that day, please contact your  advisory students to see what they have access to. Happy Friday! I hope everyone is still going strong 3 weeks into our social distancing. It will be interesting to see how history books refer to this time. Just think about the new phrases that have popped up just because of this virus.  Yesterday Governor Reynolds closed schools until April 30. Because of this, we will continue to do enrichments, but are encouraging you to do new material. This still can't be required or graded, but we want to make sure students have the opportunity to learn the material. Please don't try to cover everything you would have covered for the reminder of the year, just pick the items that the students may need to know in the future. Only have 2-3 goals per week. More guidance on this will be coming next week.  At the same time, please start thinking how we will need to start next year. As a former social studies teacher, I know that a student not getting all the content in World History is not going to impact a student in American History. ...

Happy Friday! As I am writing this I am reflecting back on the last couple of weeks. I know many of you are busy creating enrichments for our students and our college classes have started up again online. If you have any questions regarding your classes or what you can be doing at this time don't hesitate to ask. I want to clarify one question, " Can you give students make up work from 3rd quarter?" This is not new learning and the student is doing work that has already been assigned. This can be graded and entered into your gradebook. This is very important for seniors as we don't know if we will be back on April 13. I am going forward with the plan that we will come back on that day, but I am making preparations for if we don't. I do not know what will happen with credits or how we will figure semester grades. So far, the state is asking us to err on the side of the student in awarding credit. Happy Friday! Thank you for all the feedback on our inservice on Wednesday. The April inservice will be a work day so you can have time to work on enrichments and interventions. Our May inservice will be looking at our ISASP data and then wrapping up our professional development for the school year. The expectations for the rest of the year in regards to enrichments and interventions is that they will take place in at least one prep. Ideally we want you to start moving these into all your preps, but that won't be the expectation until next school year. During Advisory in the next couple of weeks, please take the time to have the students take the practice test on the ISASP. They can be found here . It would also be good to test the app installed on the computer to make sure it works. I don't believe the students actually use the app for the practice tests. Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. We do have our in-service meeting on Wednesday. The CIA group has quite the plan in place for you after I cover the ISASP and our Iowa School Performance Profile. Please make sure you bring your data and what you did for interventions or enrichments.  As we begin our spring activity seasons, schedules will need to be flexible as there are so many activities dependent on the weather. Hopefully this weekend will see lanes painted on our track to get ready for our first home meet on March 31.  We ended a rather successful winter season for multiple activities. Both the boy and girl basketball teams made it to the substate final and came within a game of qualifying for state. The boy and girl bowling teams made a return visit to the state meet. We qualified 5 wrestlers to the state meet with 2 wrestlers placing. Robotics made a trip to the state competition. Jazz Band qualified for Iowa Jazz Championships later in April. L...
