Friday Focus  Happy Friday!   I hope everyone had a great week. It is hard to believe this is the last Friday in April and we will be starting our last month of school next week. This time is going to go by fast.  Congrats to Mrs. Dunn for being named the Crystal Bell Teacher of the Year. She gave an outstanding speech on Wednesday night at the banquet.  I would like you to look at the PASS Plan spreadsheet to make sure you have turned in a PASS Plan to me. If it is not on there, then I don't have it documented it took place. A student can not fail a class if there was no PASS Plan.   The seniors are getting closer to graduation. I have several that are failing classes that are needed for graduation. I encourage you to call home and talk to the parents to let them know what their student needs to get done to pass your class. I am also communicating with parents, but I can't tell them what needs to be done to pass. Seniors final day of class is May 9. They...

Friday Focus  Happy Friday!   I hope everyone had a great week. We have made it through prom, now the only major day to make it through is graduation. Since we don't have school next Friday, this will be the Friday Focus for the next 2 weeks. This week the 2025 and 2026 football schedules were finally released. Homecoming next school year will be September 26 and for the 26-27 school year it will be October 2. The dance will be September 27 from 9-midnight.  Next Thursday, the students will be dismissed at 1:30. We do have our 2nd to last inservice of the year. The CIA has a fun activity for you all to do to see all the great lessons you created from you learning this school year.  As we are getting 4th quarter going, remember April 14 is the midterm and the last day to have had PASS Plans. Any student at risk of failing your class will need to have a meeting and the form will need to be turned into me so I can document the meeting. You all have a...

Friday Focus  Happy Friday!   I hope everyone had a great week. Just a reminder that I will need all classes to report to the competition gym on Friday at the start of 2nd period for our big announcment!  This week I had the opportunity to record my first podcast with Iowa Workforce Development. They came to Le Mars on Wednesday to record a segment on our EMT program and partnership with Le Mars Fire and Rescue. They took video of the class and the students practicing their skills. Three of our students, Mary Sullivan, Nolan Boehmer, and Sebastian MacGregor, were also interviewed for that segment. It was some nice publicity for a great program. Thank you for your work during inservice on Wednesday. I found it interesting looking at the AI posters we all created in November to see how far we have come in our learning on AI. I find that I am using it more and more to complete tasks where I may not have the exact word to write what I am thinking. Maybe this is...

Friday Focus  Happy Friday!  Today is the last day of ISASP and the block schedule. I would appreciate any feedback you may have on the week as I am always trying to find ways to improve how we give the ISASP.  It is hard to believe this is the last Friday Focus for March. The time is moving much too fast and there is so much left to do this school year. I am kind of at a stand still with the master schedule as we have the FCS opening for next year. If you know any FCS teachers, please help recruit them to apply for our opening. I have sent emails to ISU, Wayne State, and SDSWho?.  Today is the last day for the teachers to vote on the Plymouth County Bar Assocation Scholarship nominations. I will look at the voting on Monday and talk to some of you that said you would be willing to write a letter of recommendation. I do need those letters by April 4.  We will have a quick assembly next Friday at the start of second period. There is an announcment we would...

Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. I will be gone again today, but this is Tanner's last swim meet of the school year. This is the meet he has been training for, so he is pretty pumped and ready to go.  This week I signed our first formal pre-apprenticeship agreement with the Carpenters Training Institute. This agreement recognizes the learning and work our students do in our construction classes and gives them credit for that experience if they join the Carpenters Training Institute in Sioux City. Those students, if they are 18, will get a job with a contractor and then will continue on with the apprenticeship. If they are not 18 yet, they can sign on with the union and still start the classes, but can't get a job until he/she turns 18. After their first year, they are awarded a $1500 scholarship to pay for tools they will need for their job. This is an excellent opportunity for those students interested in a career in construction fie...
