Happy Friday! We made it to another weekend. As we get closer to the end of the school year, students will begin to test our patience. Remember to take a deep breath before reacting to something. We do not want to get into arguments or power struggles with students, especially if their is an audience. In these instances nobody wins. Just a friendly reminder that contracts are due on Monday for teachers and May 8 for support staff. I will still collect contracts in my office. Please just place them in the basket on my desk. Wednesday night was the annual Foundation Banquet. We had one high school staff member recognized for 25 years of service. Thank you to Brian Orban for your years of service and hard work to help educate the youth of Le Mars! Also, the Employees of the month were recognized again. They were September - Rhonda Beach, October - Mike Weaver, January - Amy Davis & Beth Collins, and February - Jill Brown. Mr. Utesch will be having a junior class meeti...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a good break and came back ready to make that final push. Today is midterm for the 4th quarter. Beth and Amy will get these sent off. Please take the time to contact parents of the students who you have set up PASS Plans for if the student is not meeting their end of the deal. The more we communicate with parents of these students, the better off they will be in the long run.  Local Assessments will be next week in Junior English and Math classes. On Tuesday, we will have the random testing done for the Health and Social Studies during 1st and 2nd period in the Library.  Hopefully everyone had the chance to complete the TLC surveys that Rachael Harris sent out for the TLC committee. This info is important in helping the committee to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. If you didn't fill out these surveys please take the time to do so. Also, you were sent a link for a parent involvement survey. Please make sure you have comple...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Only 3 more work days left after today for Spring Break. I will not be putting out a Friday Focus next week so I will take care of a few items here. On April 10 during advisory, student council will be putting on a recognition assembly in the competition gym. We will be honoring our activities and students that have completed their seasons to this point. This will be similar to what we did last year when we recognized Mr. Johnson. Student Council will be recognizing students who earned post season honors, made all-state, etc. They will have the group stand, but have the individuals award winners come down on the floor. Cole Berkenpas has been gathering the info, if he hasn't talked to you, please let me know. Also, on April 10 we have a evacuation drill. Please follow the procedures that was sent out earlier this week. It is important that you take roll outside and communicate it to your lead teacher, who will then communicate i...

Happy Friday and one more week closer to spring break.  On April 3 during advisory, Youth on Main Street will be here to speak to the sophomores in the Little Theater. Please have the sophomores report down there. I also will need the teachers that have sophomores for advisory to report there. Please sit with the students around the little theater. Iowa Assessments will be on April 4-6. We will run the formative assessment schedule that is in the student handbook on those days.  We have our building in-service times on April 5 and 19. Like the past meetings, please work on curriculum work. The district professional development day is April 26.  Congrats to the music students for their performance at individual small group ensemble Saturday. They had numerous students earn division 1 ratings.  Band students earned 27 I's, 7 II's, and 1 III. Choir students earned 28 I's, 24 II's, and 2 III's. Orchestra students earned 5 I's, 3 II's, and 3 III's. ...

Happy Friday, 3 quarters down, 1 more to go. Make sure you continue to push the students for this final quarter. With the weather warming up, this would also be a good time to remind students of the dress code. If you see a dress code infraction, please address it with the student. If the student does not respond to you, then let Mr. Utesch or myself know and one of us will talk with the student. Please take this time to refresh yourself on the dress code as well.  On Monday, the 27th, please do the third quarter reflections sheets with the students. The assembly that was going to be on April 3, will now be on April 10 during advisory. The assembly will be in the competition gym.  On April 3, we will have a Sophomore class meeting in the little theater. Rich Zitlo and Becky Klohs will talk with the students about the Youth on Main Street Program. The Youth on Main Street Program was designed by Rich and Becky with the hopes of getting students interested in the history of ...
