Friday Focus
Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. We have been seeing an increase of illness around the school. Please make sure you are taking care of yourself and if you need to stay home because you are sick, please do so. Don't worry about if you are covered, that is my job to figure it out.
The counselors will be taking our Juniors to Western Iowa Tech on October 29. All Juniors will attend, but it they miss the bus or don't want to participate they will be in class.
Homecoming is right around the corner. We will have our homecoming activities similar to last year, but hopefully leave off the fire alarms going off. Students will report to advisory, take attendance and then bring them to the competition gym when announced over the intercom. Students will sit with their grade. Please sit with the grade level you are a class sponsor for. Stu Co will be sending out more info on the games and how many students will be needed for each grade for the game.

Good morning and Happy Friday!
Things I'm Thankful For: SSFC -- thank you for all the volunteers! I think we have enough people to keep doing awesome things this year.
Things I've Seen That Are Awesome: I've seen several "hallway chats" between staff and students. I'm consistently impressed with how calm yet firm our staff members have been. That's perfect! Remember that it is OK to send a student to the office for a referral if needed. If you've addressed the behavior, followed the steps, and they still continue to act out -- more consequences may be in order. Let me know if you need assistance with a student or just want to brainstorm some ideas.
Things I'm Thinking About: "Who hasn't been 'seen' yet?" Now that we are 3 weeks into the school year and are starting to get to know our students, I start to wonder which students are still flying under the radar. These students tend not to be the super high achievers, nor the lowest in the class. They tend to not be involved in school activities. They come to school, quietly participate, and then go home. In short, they are the students that don't cause waves. Join us in being on the lookout for these kids, too.
