Friday Focus

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. Adam and I were talking this week about the noticiable difference in this year's freshman class compared to last year. Hopefully we didn't jinx ourselves. 

We have our first day of professional development on Wednesday. CIA will send out an agenda next week to let you know what to expect. Hopefully you have been working with your retrieval practice on the 4 power tools for the Science of Learning. If not, we will be having some spaced practice with some interleaving. See what I did there? 

Midterm will be here before you know it, September 19. Please enter comments under Q1. Any student with a grade of D+ to F should have comments. Amy will run midterms on Monday morning after 8:30, so please have everything current. 

This also would be a good time to start scheduling PASS Plan meetings. Parent Teacher Conferences are on Oct. 9 & 13. This would be a good time to schedule meetings with the parents you need to see rather than wait and see if they schedule conferences. 

On September 19, the Donovan Group will be filming around the district to create a promotional video. Dr. Webner is asking that we do not wear jeans on this day, but still wear Bulldog colors. 

Homecoming is September 26. We will have our homecoming activities similar to last year, but hopefully leave off the fire alarms going off. Students will report to advisory, (I changed my mind to have students go to advisory instead of 3rd period) take attendance and then bring them to the competition gym when announced over the intercom. Students will sit with their grade. Please sit with the grade level you are a class sponsor for. Stu Co will be sending out more info on the games and how many students will be needed for each grade for the game.

Good morning and Happy Friday!

Homecoming:
Thank you for your quick response in signing up to help with Homecoming.  If you haven't done so yet, please click here to sign up for a duty.  We could still use some help at the dance on Saturday night -- it is a great way to see and interact with your students in a different setting.  A big thank-you to Michael Bahr, Rachel Cunningham, and the StuCo for their ongoing work to make HoCo happen.

Signs:
In an effort to declutter the halls, we are going to designate specific zones for announcements and signs that are hung up.  Moving forward, please post all signs above a water fountain or on the "Check it Out" bulletin board by the Guidance Office.  Any signs regarding upcoming meetings or miscellaneous announcements, etc., should be posted there.  This will provide a space in every hallway.  Sponsors and coaches may still post such a sign outside of their respective room.

Please remember that all signs/posters hung in the hall should be approved by an administrator before posting.  This is an old rule, but often forgotten. Thanks.

Phones:
As of this writing (Thursday morning), we've had 1 cell phone violation so far.  You are doing excellent work providing a unified front on this.  When we all do our part it makes it easier for everyone. Remember that cell phone slots should be assigned to students.  If you use this to take attendance, please double check that the student is not present before counting them truant.

  Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week.  On Monday, I attended a DCAP workshop. You may be asking what is a DCAP workshop? DCAP is our District Career Academic Plan. Just like the student ICAP, Individual Career Academic Plan, the district must have one also. In the DCAP, we spell out what we are doing to prepare our students for college career readiness and employability skills. The DCAP consists of 7 sections, the main sections deal with course planning, work-based learning, and 5 essential components of ICAP.  The course planning section deals with the students 4 year plan and how the students and parents are advised on progress towards graduation. This is why we have the grade level registration meetings, our 8th grade CTE day, 8th grade parent meeting, etc so we can meet this requirement.  I am sure by this point, you are asking yourself how does this apply to me?   Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. We made it through graduation breakfast, practice, and award night. I was thinking that Wednesday is just as about as busy of a day as the Friday of homecoming for me.  This will be the last Friday Focus for the school year, so I'll try to remember to have everything you need to know to get through the last week of classes. Please remember contracts are due to Central Office on the 23rd. I do have a basket on my desk where you can turn it into me and I'll get it to Central Office.   We will be running the advisory schedule on Monday. On Tuesday, we will use the last day of school schedule. On the last day of classes students will be checking out. Please sign their check out sheets. If they have school property that needs to be returned, please document it on the sheet. During advisory that day, they will turn in their laptops.   Friday Focus Happy Friday!   I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is midterm of the 1st quarter. Please make sure all grades are up to date. Amy will run midterms and we will hand them out during 8th period.   I have had my first PASS plan turned in, congrats to Ms. Hommes to be the first one to get one done. Unfortuately is is for a senior that needs his credits. Next week is homecoming, let the fun begin. Monday night at 7:30 pm is the coronation. Come out to the competition gym to see who will be crowned this year's King and Queen.  On Monday, we will have class meetings so students can sign up for the different competitions. Freshmen will be in the Little Theater, Sophomores in the Library, Juniors in the Commons, and Seniors in the Competition Gym.
