Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week! It appears we will have a heat wave coming at us the beginning of next week. Who thought 40 degrees sounded like a heat wave? 

On Monday, Judd and Melissa will be registering grades 9-11 for next year. The 8th graders have all been registered. I hope by the first week in March we will have solid numbers to hold department meetings. 

There has been some confusion on when the end of the quarter will be. I do have March 12 down as the end and that is the way PowerSchool is set up also. Then end of the 2nd trimester is Thursday. Grades will be due on March 1. 

I have gone around and asked about summer maintenance. Some of the request I received are normal maintenance issues that if you email Mike it can get fixed sooner. Anything that poses a safety risk should also be emailed to Mike and I so that it can be fixed right away. If you have a question on if something can be repaired now rather than the summer just check with us.

Congrats to Colton Hoag who qualified for the state wrestling meet that started yesterday. Also congrats to girl and boy bowling teams for qualifying for state. The girl basketball team will play in their next playoff game Saturday night in Sergeant Bluff. The boys will play their first round game on Monday, here vs. Heelan. General Admission tickets will go on sale for the boys game Sunday at 9:00 am. Tickets must be bought in advance as we will not be taking any money at the door. Please print or download your ticket to your phone. Congrats to the Large Group Speech students that were selected as All-State performances! I know how much time and effort you all put into your performances!

Looking ahead, we have our extra hour meetings on March 3 and 17. District inservice on March 10. We will take our last screener on March 17. We have moved our ISASP date to the first week in May instead of the week after prom. During our March district inservice, you will need to log into the ISASP portal and watch the video on test security. Melissa will be releasing more details on this. But this is something all teachers must do before we take the ISASP. Also, don't forget the second round of vaccine shots will start on March 3.

Assistant Principal's Happenings

We have had some increased behaviors/social media posts outsides of school that have been impacting students inside of it recently.  Please make sure you are in the hallways as much as possible between classes and at the end of the day.  I may be requesting some of you to keep a closer eye on certain students if issues continue after being addressed initially.  Make sure you are also checking the Teacher Duty Sheet: Link and are in your location as soon as possible after school.

Please double-check attendance and update the list if you see an error.  Our attendance has been improving overall and I want to keep it on that track as Winter continues.  It looks like it will warm up in the next few weeks.

Just a reminder Sam is due on March 11th which is less than 3 weeks from now.  I will try to send out an email when I am gone.  I plan to only be gone while we are in the hospital and then will be back.  Any major discipline issues that cannot wait should be discussed with Dr. Iverson.

For anyone that couldn't attend the Jazz and Concert Band Concert last night, hopefully, you were able to listen to the live stream for some great music from our students!

  Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week.  On Monday, I attended a DCAP workshop. You may be asking what is a DCAP workshop? DCAP is our District Career Academic Plan. Just like the student ICAP, Individual Career Academic Plan, the district must have one also. In the DCAP, we spell out what we are doing to prepare our students for college career readiness and employability skills. The DCAP consists of 7 sections, the main sections deal with course planning, work-based learning, and 5 essential components of ICAP.  The course planning section deals with the students 4 year plan and how the students and parents are advised on progress towards graduation. This is why we have the grade level registration meetings, our 8th grade CTE day, 8th grade parent meeting, etc so we can meet this requirement.  I am sure by this point, you are asking yourself how does this apply to me?   Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. We made it through graduation breakfast, practice, and award night. I was thinking that Wednesday is just as about as busy of a day as the Friday of homecoming for me.  This will be the last Friday Focus for the school year, so I'll try to remember to have everything you need to know to get through the last week of classes. Please remember contracts are due to Central Office on the 23rd. I do have a basket on my desk where you can turn it into me and I'll get it to Central Office.   We will be running the advisory schedule on Monday. On Tuesday, we will use the last day of school schedule. On the last day of classes students will be checking out. Please sign their check out sheets. If they have school property that needs to be returned, please document it on the sheet. During advisory that day, they will turn in their laptops.   Friday Focus Happy Friday!   I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is midterm of the 1st quarter. Please make sure all grades are up to date. Amy will run midterms and we will hand them out during 8th period.   I have had my first PASS plan turned in, congrats to Ms. Hommes to be the first one to get one done. Unfortuately is is for a senior that needs his credits. Next week is homecoming, let the fun begin. Monday night at 7:30 pm is the coronation. Come out to the competition gym to see who will be crowned this year's King and Queen.  On Monday, we will have class meetings so students can sign up for the different competitions. Freshmen will be in the Little Theater, Sophomores in the Library, Juniors in the Commons, and Seniors in the Competition Gym.
