Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy some relaxation and stays warm during this 3 day weekend.
Thank you for your work during in-service this week. CIA believed this year needed to be about giving time to get your curriculum on Schoology. Looking ahead to next school year, we will be getting back to our normal in-service/extra hour meetings using the PLC framework to guide our instruction and work during pd time.
This past week we have made some staff additions for the 21-22 school year. Joining us in the Science department will be Cortney Nelson. Cortney is currently student teaching with us. She will be teaching Biology next year and will be in room 131. We also hired Ken Vigdal to be the next head football coach at LCHS. Ken will be teaching in the middle school. Also next year, we will be starting a new Computer Science program. Our CS program will be led by Gabe Davis as he joins us from the middle school. Gabe will be in room 120. Which means Mr. Irwin will be moving to room 127. Earlier in the year, we hired Blake Fehringer for the 21-22 school year. Blake also student taught for us and has been subbing for Mr. Dalton. All four of these people will be great additions to the LCHS family.
Registration is still taking place although we will be adding new electives in the computer science field. Once we get those electives determined, we will get the info out to the students so they can change electives if they desire. This may delay when I have the department meetings with those departments that have mostly electives. Once we have good numbers, then I will meet with those departments.
Just a couple of reminders, extra hour meeting on Wednesday 2/17 and the end of the quarter will be March 12.
Have a Great Weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings
The Law Conference I attended yesterday was very informative. Lots of the changes in the topics like Chapter 103- rules of seclusion/restraint and Title IX, we have been discussing in our Cabinet Meetings. There are many new rules and expectations with both of these major topics that we are working to be prepared for if we ever come across any issues. The State Legislature update was informative on how different Bills are being looked at and what is predicted to pass and which topics have traction or not. If you have time, it is always good to research how these Bills could impact your classrooms.
I am hoping to share out Driver's Education information and Open's information with Juniors before the Trimester. We have a few changes in Driver's Ed. as we are down an instructor so we had to be creative so we can still serve the drivers. If you have Freshmen or Sophomores please encourage students to sign up early to get their requested session. We will bring back the traditional requirements for earning Opens as Seniors by completing Service Hours before they would earn them. After joining NHS, Juniors will be given their Opens for the remainder of this year as well.
Enjoy the three day weekend!
