Happy Friday! Looks like we had a very successful week in our various winter activities. We had 7 of our 14 large group speech entries selected as All-State, Colton Hoag placed 4 at state wrestling, the girls bowling team brought home a state championship, and the boys bowling team finished in 7th place.

Today marks the beginning of our 3rd trimester. Second trimester grades will be due on March 1.

All teachers should have received an email from Kim regarding requisitions for next school year. I now have my information, so requisitions are due by March 15. If you know you will need some items throughout the year from Walmart or other local places, please let me know. I need to develop my budget and get it turned into Sandy. If I don't budget for it, you may not be able to get it later on. Make sure you follow Kim's instructions. The description should have FY21-22. I will put a procedures sheet in your mailbox today.

You may have seen there is a special board meeting scheduled for today at noon. At that special meeting the board will hopefully approve 4 new positions in the school district that our ESSER II funds will pay for. We will gain one of these positions as either a half math/half science or if we can't find a science with a math endorsement, then it will be just a science hire. This new position will be used to teach Biology and General Science (for the 22-23 school year) and yet to be determined math classes.

The registration process is wrapping up. Once we have most of the students registered, we will need to go through and clean up some of the requests. Students will make multiple request for the same class even when they are told it won't improve their chances of getting into the class. Once our data is clean, I will start to have department meetings.

I am sending a survey to the teaching staff regarding computers for next year. I need to get input on what your preferences are in regards to moving to a 1-1 or keeping our current model. I am also asking for input for changes if we keep our current model of getting a computer before school and then returning it after school. If we decide we would like to move to the 1-1 model, we will need to write a proposal to Dr. Webner outlining what it will look like, what training may be needed for staff and students, check out and check in procedures, classroom use, what to do when not needed in the classroom, how we plan on monitor student use, etc.

Looking ahead, extra hour meetings are on March 3 and 17, our last screener will be on March 17, shelter drill on the 31st at 9:20 am. District in-service is on the 10.

Have a Great Weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings

I will be checking on tardies and absences again this upcoming week and contacting parents where needed.  It's still early enough in the Semester that we do not have too many students on Attendance Contracts but that will likely be picking up soon.  I usually ask students to work with teachers to make up that time as it is class time that they are missing.

Remote-Learner update; our students are closer to being on track than they were at this point in the first semester, but we still have about 25 that are behind in some classes.  We have moved around 10 students that were constantly behind to the ILC to have more structure and they typically catch back up.

Hopefully, we continue these warm temperatures.  Next week, looks great with 50 degrees most days!  I know the lunch students are very excited to get back outside after 3 months of sitting in the gym after lunch.  I hope many of you plan to have some outdoor classes this Spring where you can spread out and have a break from the masks for awhile.

 Enjoy the weekend!
