Happy Last Friday in January!  It is hard to believe we are already into February. We will be getting into our scheduling process pretty heavy this month. The goal is to get everyone registered so we can start working on the master schedule. The ultimate goal is to have the master schedule completed by April so we can get it to the students.

On Wednesday, I made an announcement about prom and what it may look like. I am including the information here in case someone asks you what we are doing. When we developed our prom guidelines, our ultimate goal is to stay in live instruction and not to do something that may make us move to a hybrid or remote model. As you will see below, these are all based on the 14 day average for positive cases. Some of this could change if any of the variants are found in Plymouth County. The capacities were figured by looking at the usable space in the areas and how many people we could safely have and spread out.

Prom Date: April 10

COVID Plan for prom if 14 day average is between 5-9.9%, if above 10% no prom at this time.

  1. Prom will only be for Juniors and Seniors, no underclassmen or out of town guests.

  2. Capacity Limits on the following gyms - We will need to decide which gym we will use. Part of this will depend on ticket sales.

    1. HS Competition Gym - 240

    2. Carrey Gym - 200

    3. MS Competition Gym - 175

  3. May or may not have a grand march, if we do it will be streamed with no attendees.

  4. Masks will be worn at all times.

  5. No “mob” dance pits, they will need to be spread out through the entire gym.

Just a couple of reminders, Midterm is on February 5 and calendar input for 21-22 is also due on the 5th. We have extra hour meetings on Wednesday 2/3 and 2/17. End of the quarter will be March 12.

I'll close out with a little story about Tyler last night. Now I do consider Tyler to be a smart kid. So, Tyler was in the kitchen studying for his Physiology test. He made the comment to Kristin that he wishes the textbook was digital so he could hit Control F. Kristin's comment was, well back when I went to school I used this thing in the back of the book called an index to find something faster. Either he didn't know the index was there or he just forgot about it. But this makes me think about how much our students depend on technology and that the little things that we may have done in school, they don't think about.

Have a Great Weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings

We made it through the first month of 2021!  It seemed to really fly by and I'm sure the rest of the year is going to go fast too.  Please make sure grades and Schoology are being updated regularly as Mid-Term is coming up next Friday.  I will be talking to Seniors at risk of losing Opens this next week if they are in jeopardy of not graduating.

We continue to see more mask violations as we move through the month.  Please talk to your advisories to make sure they continue to wear masks in every class and in the halls.  We have a few runners after school who are preparing for track season and I've had to talk to a couple of them already that haven't been wearing masks.  If you see them make sure they understand we expect them to have masks on anytime they are in the building.  I know the fatigue of them is wearing on everyone but hearing stories from schools that have been hybrid or remote this year from our Biology Interviewees reminds me why we need to enforce it.

Next week, I will be contacting students that have reached 5 or more tardies in classes.  I am planning to do this at Mid-term and the end of the Quarter but if you have a student that starts being tardy on a regular basis in between that time please let me know.  In the 4th Quarter, I will update tardies every two weeks.

Enjoy the weekend!
