Happy Friday! Just a few reminders about upcoming dates. The end of the quarter was yesterday. Beth and Amy will run report cards on this morning so grades need to be updated by Friday at 8:00 am, so please plan accordingly. During advisory on Monday, have your students complete the end of quarter reflection. There will be no video during Advisory because of this.

Thank you to those who have turned in PASS Plans. I will be meeting with Seniors who failed a 1st quarter class starting on Monday. If you have one of these seniors and want me to stress something specific to your class please email me so I can do that. For those Seniors that need the credits I'll also communicate with the parents that their child's graduation is in jeopardy. Once I am done with the Seniors, I'll start with the other students.

Just a reminder to take the time to nominate one of your peers for Employee of the Month. The nomination forms can be found on the district's website or click here and scroll down to school heading and it is the second form from the bottom.

The school will be hosting Prom this year. Details are still being worked out on how this is going to look. Once Mr. Utesch and myself figure some stuff out we will have a meeting for those of you who are Junior and maybe Senior sponsors to give you more information. Thank you to Mrs. Isebrand who has said she will serve as the main organizer. Prom will be April 21. She will need assistance so we will have a teacher head each committee. More details will be coming as we work through what we need to do.

Have a great weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings

Last chance for a code of conduct meeting for winter activities.  Meeting will take place in the Little Theater on November 2nd starting at 4:00 pm.  Please remind your students to attend if they still need a code of conduct.

Mrs. Isebrand and I will be in Des Moines on Monday, October 30th with the student council.  We will be attending the annual Iowa Association of Student Council's Leadership Conference.

The LCHS Student Council is still collecting food for our Support Siouxland Soldiers campaign.  Please encourage students to bring items listed below so that we can meet our goal and send 50 care packages to local soldiers who are currently serving.  We will collect the following items through November 3rd: tuna and salmon packs, microwaveable macaroni and cheese, hard candies, fum, fruit snacks, ramen noodles, protein bars, powdered individual drink mixes, jerky, microwaveable soup, pudding sups, instant oatmeal packs, microwaveable popcorn, and hamburger helper.

Librarian's News

Many of our students, and, maybe some of you, do not know how to access our library resources. Our library catalog is available online 24 hours a day. You can go to the school's k12 site and click on Media and then Catalog search OR you can go to the following site: http://destiny.lemars.k12.ia.us/ and click on High school. Once you are in the site, click on the top tab that states Catalog. You can also search books in the entire district at once. To do so, once you have the catalog open, click on the drop down arrow next to location to select the district.

We also offer resources through the Iowa AEA Online site  which needs the username 3600lmhs and the password nwaea  There are numerous databases which you can use to supplement your curriculum. Gale is one that offers a number of databases within their site. Check it out to see if there is one specific to your curricular area.

Success Center Update

Instructional Coaches Corner

This first technology tidbit is called audiotools.com. It is a rather robust audio tool. Click here to see tutorials about how to use it.

https://annotate.net/ is an interactive whiteboard for your ipad. You can even have your students participate and respond using their ipads. There are free and paid levels for this service.

Several teachers have indicated the desire for a different tool to annotate on PDFs. Check out dochub.com. This site gives you the ability to edit, sign, and annotate on PDFs. The free version will let you view and edit 2000 documents. You can also sign up to 5 documents a month. Unlimited abilities cost $5 per month.

As always, if you have a technology activity you would like assistance with or maybe you have some vague idea of something you want to try and you need to talk it out with someone or maybe you have a PD class you would like to see offered, please contact me so that I can support you.
