Happy Friday! Just a few reminders about upcoming dates. The end of the quarter is on Thursday. Beth and Amy will run report cards on Friday so grades need to be updated by Friday at 8:00 am, so please plan accordingly. On Wednesday, we have our second extra hour meeting. Please continue to work on your curriculum from Wednesday's District In-Service.

I have a Lakes Conference Principal's meeting today and will be out of the office most of the time. On Thursday, October 26, I'll be going with the Robotics Team to Wells in the morning.

Thank you to those who have turned in PASS Plans. I will be meeting with Seniors who failed a 1st quarter class starting on Oct. 30. If you have one of these seniors and want me to stress something specific to your class please email me so I can do that. For those Seniors that need the credits I'll also communicate with the parents that their child's graduation is in jeopardy. Once I am done with the Seniors, I'll start with the other students.

Just a reminder to take the time to nominate one of your peers for Employee of the Month. The nomination forms can be found on the district's website or click here and scroll down to school heading and it is the second form from the bottom.

I have also had a couple teachers stop by asking about some students who have been in placement or have missed extended periods of time and then just show back up. Neal and I do let you know what we know when we can. Many times when the student just shows back up, we are just as surprised as you are as we were told something different. Do your best to get these students caught up. For those who are missing and we don't know what is going on, Neal is calling home asking for documentation and has put them on attendance contracts.

Good luck to the Robotics team as they have their first competition on Saturday. Good luck to the Volleyball team as they have their first post season match on October 24.

Have a great weekend!

Instructional Coaches Corner

I attended the Iowa Technology and Education Connection (ITEC) conference earlier this week along with Mr. Bahr, Mr. Eckstaine, Mrs. Ohrlund, and Mrs. Isebrand. We all came back invigorated and filled with new information. Please ask us what we learned about. We would love to share.

Here is something I learned. Google "My Activity." This is a central place that allows you to see how much time you have spent performing web searches, viewing websites you've visited, and videos you've watched.

This one sounds a little morbid but what happens to your gmail and other Google services when you die? This blog from Google describes the process. You can tell Google what to do with your Gmail messages and data from several other Google services if your account becomes inactive for any reason.

My last technology tidbit is for those of you that sign into your chrome browser. It is an extension called Wikibuys. It finds lower prices at other sellers while you shop on Amazon. When you navigate to a product page on Amazon Wikibuy will start working automatically. It checks other sellers to see where else your product is sold and displays results with accurate total prices including tax, shipping, and any coupons that apply. I haven't used this extension yet but I intend to do so.

As always, if you have a technology activity you would like assistance with or maybe you have some vague idea of something you want to try and you need to talk it out with someone or maybe you have a PD class you would like to see offered, please contact me so that I can support you.
