LCHS Friday Focus

        Happy Friday! We have almost made it through ISASP. Since next week is only a 3 day week, there will not be a Friday Focus. With the surprise extra hours of sleep for some of you, we will be running ISASP on Monday. Please make sure the students are aware. I do see the weather forecast could be similar to this morning, if we would be late again, we will move ISASP back to Tuesday.  Thank you for all your work during ISASP. I will be sending out a survey to get some feedback on how the days went. Please look for that in your email and respond back as it will help CIA, Adam, and I determine if we need to make any changes to the format.  Prom is sneaking up on us. Grand March is at 7:30. Doors to the public open at 6:45. The after-prom committee does charge admission.       Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Today is the end of the 3rd quarter. With that being said, grades will be due by 8:30 am on Monday. Please put comments for students who have D and F's in the Q3 category. Amy will run report cards after I store grades. The district academic eligiblity policy will be in effect. Students must pass 4 full time classes in order to be academically eligible for any school activity. Students that are not academically eligible will be ineligible for the entire 4th quarter. Mr. Moss will get you this list. Please make sure if you have an ineligible participant that they are not in a competition.  Requistions for next year are due to me today.      Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Looks like March is coming in like a lamb. I may have aged myself again with that statement. I will be gone next Friday, so I'll use this to update the next couple of weeks.  I am about done with all the department meetings. I do have a couple more to get to today and Monday, then I should be able to start working on the master schedule.  I will be having a senior class meeting Monday during advisory. I want to go over some credit things and end of year items with them. It won't last the entire advisory, but I will keep them there until the bell rings.  March 13 will be our next professional development day. The sped teachers will be meeting in the library with the other district sped teachers. The other groups will continue working on the DOK and discussing the honor courses if needed.  We have hired a new libriarian for next school year, her name is Casey Thomas. She currently lives in Orange City....

   Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Growing up I was a big fan of Calvin and Hobbes comics. I saw this one on twitter and got a little chuckle. Without fail, it seems our students struggle in the 3rd quarter before picking it back up to finish the year.  Monday is the last day of Trimester 2, we will have kids moving to PE and Careers classes. Trimester 2 grades are due on 2/28 by 8:30 am. I have scheduled number meetings for next week. I will go over sections and get input for things I need to consider when making the master schedule. I hope to have the master schedule done by the end of March.  I do have a couple of seniors I am keeping an eye on in terms of credits and making it to graduation. I will start meeting with these students a little more frequently. I am going to have a senior class meeting on March 4, during advisory, to start to go over graduation information.   Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Here's to the three day weekend! I hope everyone has the chance to relax. If you are looking for things to do over the long weekend, the girls basketball team has a playoff game here Saturday night at 7:00 pm or you can come and listen to the Jazz Band on the 19th. They perform at 4:20 in the middle school auditorium. The boys basketball team kicks off their post season on Monday also. They will play at 7:00 pm at MOC. Good luck to the students performing at Large Group All State Speech on Saturday in Ames. Also good luck to the boy and girl bowling teams as they have their state meets next week.  In the coming weeks, we will be getting ready for ISASP. Those teachers administering the ISASP will need to do the security training. This can be done at either the Feb. 28 or March 13 inservice. There are a couple of ways to do the training. Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. I will be out of the building today as Tanner and I head to Iowa City for the state swim meet. Unfortunately he is there only as a teammate and not swimming. He had a great season anyway. During cabinet this week, we have started to formalize a reunification plan in case we have an emergency where we would need to reunify students with families. This could be needed for a situation where we can't dismiss school because of something going on in the neighborhood or if we have to use our ALICE procedures. This would be a good time to update your rosters in the emergency folders that are by your door. If you are missing your emergency folder, please let Mr. Moss know so you can get a new one. Once the process is formalized, we will do some in house training on the process so people are familiar with it. It is important that everyone understands the process because most likely Adam or I may not be at the reunification site right away....

Our girls wrestling team is also at day 2 of the state wrestling meet, Keira and Des are still wrestling. Also good luck the large group speech performers on Saturday. Earlier in the week I shared the Honors Program guidelines with you. I have received feedback from a couple so far. If you have strong feelings one way or the other, please let me know. I plan on setting an informational meeting for the parents soon. Judd and Melissa are starting the registration process for next school year. Once the students have all been registered, I'll have department meetings to go over numbers and sections.
