Happy Friday! We have almost made it through ISASP. Since next week is only a 3 day week, there will not be a Friday Focus. With the surprise extra hours of sleep for some of you, we will be running ISASP on Monday. Please make sure the students are aware. I do see the weather forecast could be similar to this morning, if we would be late again, we will move ISASP back to Tuesday. 

Thank you for all your work during ISASP. I will be sending out a survey to get some feedback on how the days went. Please look for that in your email and respond back as it will help CIA, Adam, and I determine if we need to make any changes to the format. 

Prom is sneaking up on us. Grand March is at 7:30. Doors to the public open at 6:45. The after-prom committee does charge admission. This money goes to help with the after-prom. 

Please let me know if you have anything that needs to be fixed this summer or if your room needs to be painted. I am finishing up my summer maintenance list. 

I am on hold with the master schedule right now. We migrated to the new version of PowerScheduler, but the build feature has some bugs and it is identifying errors that are not errors. I am hoping Mark Walz can revert us back to the old version. Otherwise, I need to wait for PowerSchool to either fix it or come up with a work around. I'll keep you updated.

Looking further ahead, we have an evac drill on April 11 at 10:45 am, and PASS Plans are due on April 19 for all semester 2 and trimester 3 classes.

Assistant Principal's Happenings

A few announcements:

1) Thank you for all of your extra work with students that were failing Q3 down the home stretch.  Your efforts are noticed and much appreciated.

2)  Keep communicating with parents.  The most awkward conversations I've had recently are when a parent says "I didn't know.....".  Of course, parent access to PowerSchool should alleviate some of this.  But if you are ever debating about whether a behavior or grade is worth the effort of an email -- send the email.  It may help you out in the future.  I rarely have complaints from parents that I over-communicate.  I've had several times in my career when my lack of communication has cost me.  

3)  Fight the good fight of staying engaged.  Third quarter was long -- Q4 will fly by in a flash.

4)  Hats and midriffs, midriffs and hats.  As the weather turns nicer, we will have to ramp up enforcement of dress code.  Please do your part.  It has to be a team effort.  Today a student told a staff member that he was wearing his hat to test how long it would take before an adult said something.  Kids will always push the envelope.  It is hard to remain consistent.

5) Enjoy your weekend with those you love and that love you.

  Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week.  On Monday, I attended a DCAP workshop. You may be asking what is a DCAP workshop? DCAP is our District Career Academic Plan. Just like the student ICAP, Individual Career Academic Plan, the district must have one also. In the DCAP, we spell out what we are doing to prepare our students for college career readiness and employability skills. The DCAP consists of 7 sections, the main sections deal with course planning, work-based learning, and 5 essential components of ICAP.  The course planning section deals with the students 4 year plan and how the students and parents are advised on progress towards graduation. This is why we have the grade level registration meetings, our 8th grade CTE day, 8th grade parent meeting, etc so we can meet this requirement.  I am sure by this point, you are asking yourself how does this apply to me?   Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. We made it through graduation breakfast, practice, and award night. I was thinking that Wednesday is just as about as busy of a day as the Friday of homecoming for me.  This will be the last Friday Focus for the school year, so I'll try to remember to have everything you need to know to get through the last week of classes. Please remember contracts are due to Central Office on the 23rd. I do have a basket on my desk where you can turn it into me and I'll get it to Central Office.   We will be running the advisory schedule on Monday. On Tuesday, we will use the last day of school schedule. On the last day of classes students will be checking out. Please sign their check out sheets. If they have school property that needs to be returned, please document it on the sheet. During advisory that day, they will turn in their laptops.   Friday Focus Happy Friday!   I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is midterm of the 1st quarter. Please make sure all grades are up to date. Amy will run midterms and we will hand them out during 8th period.   I have had my first PASS plan turned in, congrats to Ms. Hommes to be the first one to get one done. Unfortuately is is for a senior that needs his credits. Next week is homecoming, let the fun begin. Monday night at 7:30 pm is the coronation. Come out to the competition gym to see who will be crowned this year's King and Queen.  On Monday, we will have class meetings so students can sign up for the different competitions. Freshmen will be in the Little Theater, Sophomores in the Library, Juniors in the Commons, and Seniors in the Competition Gym. Teachers with the asterick by their name in the Teacher Handbook are the lead teachers and will need to take charge of these meetings.  Dress up days for Homecoming Week. YOU CAN PARTICIPATE!...
