Friday Focus
Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week!
First off, thank you for all your work and attention during our professional development on Wednesday. This is something I appreciate about all of you on how you all want to improve your craft and your willingness to try new strategies. I would like to thank CIA for organizing our journey learning about the Science of Learning. Thank you to MTSS for the work on the EWS and getting the advisory activities organized and to the staff. I also want to thank Mr. Moss for his work on developing the ethics training and the discipline refresher.
I just wanted to give a few reminders and items I may have forgotten to talk about on Tuesday.
Monday we will run the first day of school schedule. Students will report to advisory at the start of the day. If you do not give them their laptop at open house, please plug them in so they are charged.
Thursday is school picture day. Students in grades 9-11 will have their pictures taken. We will try to get this done as quickly as we can. Please make sure you also get your picture taken.
On Friday, students will have their ALICE refresher. Freshman will be during 2nd period, Sophomores during 3rd, Juniors during 4th, and Seniors during 6th. Mr. Vickery will take the entire period with them.
Please remember to get your welcome letters uploaded to the shared folder. Also Tier 2 plans are due 9/2

Assistant Principal's Happenings
Good morning and Happy Friday!
Thank you for a fantastic week of PD and getting ready together. Thank you for taking a professional attitude yesterday during our PD session. Thank you to CIA and MTSS for all of your fantastic work! We have a great staff!
Beginning of the Year Housekeeping:
Teacher Duty Schedule -- linked here. "Bulldog Entrance Greeter" is a new location. Dr. Iverson and Officer Vickery usually greet students at the front door in the morning, but we have a lot of kids that enter through the Bulldog Door. If you are assigned this location, feel free to be inside or outside -- just please greet students as they arrive, welcome them to school, and keep an eye on the parking lot and hallway. Thank you.
Cell Phones -- We discussed this during our meeting on Wednesday. In short, nothing changes from last year. We informed the 9th graders during Orientation about our policy and I've included it in the beginning of the year Handbook video you will show on Monday. The only change is that we are asking teachers to assign cell phone slots this year. You can take attendance with your cell phone holder, but..... you need to make sure the attendance you enter into PS is accurate. Do not count a student truant if they are sitting in the room. Thank you.
Homecoming information will be forthcoming -- All staff will have a duty at some point during that week -- during the Coronation (Monday night), Pep Rally, Parade, or Dance.
The Student Handbook has been rearranged. It is the same information with a new table of contents. I tried to arrange it topically. Just a heads up if you can't find something on the same page as the past.
IEP compliance and Aide Schedule -- Remember to look for the orange triangle with an exclamation point icon in PS. Our SpEd staff works hard to keep that updated with accommodations required by IEPs. We are legally bound to provide these services. Let me know if you have any questions. The current Aide schedule is linked here, and is subject to change. The Aide schedule is dictated by accommodations required in IEPs. If you have an aide and don't feel one is needed, or visa versa, please let me know. We have some limited wiggle room in these things.
