Friday Focus

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great first full week of school. I know I am a little more tired than I have been in a while. Fortunately we have a 3 day weekend.

I want to thank everyone for hitting our policies hard with the students. If we continue to do this, the rest of the year will be much easier. I am taking cell phones and earbuds from students when I see them with them in the hallway during class time. My guess is the students didn't believe we would do this.

I think the start of the year has gone very smoothly, this in large part due to all of you. Again, thank you for all you do for our students. With the start of September, we do have 2 building in-service days this month. CIA will send agendas out to the staff the week we have those inservices.

Those of you that teach concurrent classes, please remember to have the students sign the waiver from WIT so we can talk with parents. I'll put together a spreadsheet and share it with you so you are aware if they signed the waiver or not. Please double check that the students fill it out correctly. They need to list their parent's names. I have had some in the past come back with no names listed and I had to have Amy track them down to get it corrected.

One final reminder that all students have the ALICE Training today. Freshmen will be during 2nd hour, Sophomores during 3rd, Juniors during 4th, and Seniors during 6th. Have your students report to class for attendance and then bring them to the Little Theater. I would like you to stay and help monitor the students during this time. If you have a mixed grade level class, you may stay back with the other grade level. I would like the aides to attend the training with the students so they can have the refresher also.

On September 19, the Donovan Group will be filming around the district to create a promotional video. Dr. Webner is asking that we do not wear jeans on this day, but still wear Bulldog colors.

Homecoming is September 26. We will have our homecoming activities similar to last year, but hopefully leave off the fire alarms going off. Students will report to third period, take attendance and then bring them to the competition gym. Students will sit with their grade. Please sit with the grade level you are a class sponsor for. Stu Co will be sending out more info on the games and how many students will be needed for each grade for the game.

These are the dress up days for Homecoming Week:

Monday, 9/22 - Pajama Day

Tuesday, 9/23 - Adam Sandler Day

Assistant Principal's Happenings

Good morning and Happy Friday!

Thank you all for your efforts for a smooth start.  That doesn't just "happen".  That is a result of your hard work, your care for kids, and your willingness to be part of a larger team.  We are thankful to serve alongside you.

Last year I started this spreadsheet to keep track of cell phone restrictions.  We will use it again this year.  I added a tab, "No Phone Claim List" to keep track of students that tell you they don't have a phone.  Please add to the list if you know of other students.  Feel free to add a note next to a name, too, if needed.

Once students are done changing schedules (end of today), please keep in mind a few things:

A) We will re-evaluate the aide schedule to make sure all of our IEP requirements are met.  Aide time is driven by the IEP.  That said, if you feel there has been an error, or aides are needed or not needed, please send me an email so we can evaluate the situation.  THANK YOU to our aides that do so much work behind the scenes!  If you have an aide in your class, be sure to introduce them to your class as someone there to help and a valuable member of your classroom.

B) By the end of next week, have phone slots assigned to kids, if you haven't done that already.  Your enforcement of the phone policy is noticeable in funny places -- we have less students in the halls and restrooms.  We noticed this last year, too.

Enjoy your well-deserved holiday weekend!
