Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week! This week is National School Counselor's week. Thank you Judd and Melissa for all the things you do to make us better.
It is that time of year again when requisitions for next year will need to be filled out. You have an instruction sheet that was put in your mailbox on how to do the requisitions. Please make sure you put FY23-24 in the requisition description. If you do not do this, then I will reject the requisition and you will have to start over.
Along with the requisitions starting, I am also starting my list for summer maintenance. If you have something in your room that needs to be fixed or painted, please let me know. I will try and make it around to each room.
I want to thank CIA for organizing the in-service. I know some were expecting more strategies, but I do think we all needed to hear and see the changing demographics in Le Mars. I also thought it was worth while going through the 4 areas and seeing what a level 1-5 looks like. I know when I was looking at the different levels, I was also looking through the lens of special education students. Many of those students have the same struggles. In March and April, CIA will be presenting strategies to go along with what Mr. McHugh presented.
I am going to put off scheduling meetings to go over course numbers until I get an auto instructor hired. If we don't find one, then we need to have those students request different classes, which will effect the other electives. Pending board approval on Monday night, we have offered the Ag/Science position and it has been accepted.
As we start to look ahead, we do have a shelter drill on Wednesday at 2:00 pm. ISASP will be upon us quickly also. Those are scheduled for the week of March 27. On Wednesday, after in-service, CIA discussed the ISASP and we decided to give the writing subtest in English class instead of advisory. Because of that, we will run the block schedule for 4 days. On March 28 & 29 we will give the reading and science tests and on March 30 & 31 we will give the math and writing tests.
The end of the 2nd trimester is on Feb. 27 and the end of 3rd quarter is on March 15. I have had some PASS plans turned into me and I have been notified of some extensions. Please refer to the PASS Plan spreadsheet if you want to know if I have a record of a meeting or an extension. The last day for any PASS Plans or extensions is April 17.

Assistant Principal's Happenings
I hope you have enjoyed the week! We have been working to meet with Seniors and should meet with the remaining Seniors today that are failing a class. I have given many deadlines to complete the work to the students so they know they must complete the summative assignments or finish assignments to keep their opens. I am planning to start meeting with underclassmen as well next week. With Juniors in particular, I will push the importance of grades and ISASP scores to have opens right away as Seniors.
We have been working to remind students to park responsibly as I said last week. We have a few students from out of the district that we found
were creating their own spots by the weight room. Please remind students they can lose parking passes or be towed if they cannot park properly.
I will be attending a virtual law conference on Thursday the 16th. If students are causing concerns please email me and I can still help address the concerns. This conference usually has a lot of useful information and I will share some of it next week.
Reminder to talk to your classes to bring money to donate for care packages for deployed troops during Advisory on the 21st after President's Day weekend. We collected over $700 at the Hoops for Troops at the game this week.
