Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. Halloween is on Monday, we do not allow students to dress up for this. Please make sure they are aware that they still need to be following the dress code.

We are getting close to the end of the 1st trimester. The trimester will end on November 16, which is the same day as midterm of the 2nd quarter. Reminder that all PASS plans must be done by November 16. If a student would not earn a passing grade at the end of the semester and no PASS plan was held, the student will not be given a failing grade. No incompletes will be given for this reason. PASS plans are a building requirement. 

First trimester grades will be due on 11/18 at 8:00 am so we can print midterms/trimester report cards. Those will be handed out in 8th period that day. If you have a student that failed a trimester course, I will need the PASS Plan summary page filled out and handed into me.

I am meeting with the AEA on Tuesday to find out more about our targeted status for IEP students on the ISASP. I am not sure what to expect, but I do know that we will have access to different services through the AEA to assist us in this journey. This will be something that all of us will be ultimately responsible for. I will share more after this meeting.

As we start November, this time of year always flies by. Before you know it, we will be giving semester tests. Semester tests are on December 16 and 19. Odd periods will be on the 16th and even periods on the 19th. December 20 will be the make up day. Grades will be due before you leave on the 20th.

Assistant Principal's Happenings

I will be sharing out a tardy update sheet today.  Please be aware that at 5 and 6 tardies in a class, a parent should be contacted and they will need to serve a 30-minute detention with the teacher.  If they refuse please let me know and I will add it to their time to make up with the office.  At tardy 7, I will give them a 2 hour tardy they will need to serve during the early outs.  I am going to give them the option to make up the time ahead of it so they may be coming in to work on homework with teachers.  If they say they are serving time for tardies please send me an update on them.  I will send out another tardy list at the end of November but typically, most students get the hint after the first round.  

I was comparing behavioral referrals to the office and we are at half of what we were during the first quarter last year which is really great knowing we have about 50 more students in the building.  I know referrals have picked up recently as certain behaviors become more intolerable.  If you are having issues, now is a great time to reiterate classroom expectations and hold them to that standard.  

We continue to have issues with bathroom vandalism.  Unfortunately, students have figured out they can use a screwdriver to change the pressure on the toilet and cause the bathrooms to flood... Thanks, TikTok.  Please be on the lookout for any students with screwdrivers and let the office know right away.  Again, remind students to report any vandalism in the bathroom so we can narrow down time frames.  I was able to determine one student that was doing it this week and he was given a pretty severe consequence and had to pay for damages and clean-up costs.

  Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week.  On Monday, I attended a DCAP workshop. You may be asking what is a DCAP workshop? DCAP is our District Career Academic Plan. Just like the student ICAP, Individual Career Academic Plan, the district must have one also. In the DCAP, we spell out what we are doing to prepare our students for college career readiness and employability skills. The DCAP consists of 7 sections, the main sections deal with course planning, work-based learning, and 5 essential components of ICAP.  The course planning section deals with the students 4 year plan and how the students and parents are advised on progress towards graduation. This is why we have the grade level registration meetings, our 8th grade CTE day, 8th grade parent meeting, etc so we can meet this requirement.  I am sure by this point, you are asking yourself how does this apply to me?   Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. We made it through graduation breakfast, practice, and award night. I was thinking that Wednesday is just as about as busy of a day as the Friday of homecoming for me.  This will be the last Friday Focus for the school year, so I'll try to remember to have everything you need to know to get through the last week of classes. Please remember contracts are due to Central Office on the 23rd. I do have a basket on my desk where you can turn it into me and I'll get it to Central Office.   We will be running the advisory schedule on Monday. On Tuesday, we will use the last day of school schedule. On the last day of classes students will be checking out. Please sign their check out sheets. If they have school property that needs to be returned, please document it on the sheet. During advisory that day, they will turn in their laptops.   Friday Focus Happy Friday!   I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is midterm of the 1st quarter. Please make sure all grades are up to date. Amy will run midterms and we will hand them out during 8th period.   I have had my first PASS plan turned in, congrats to Ms. Hommes to be the first one to get one done. Unfortuately is is for a senior that needs his credits. Next week is homecoming, let the fun begin. Monday night at 7:30 pm is the coronation. Come out to the competition gym to see who will be crowned this year's King and Queen.  On Monday, we will have class meetings so students can sign up for the different competitions. Freshmen will be in the Little Theater, Sophomores in the Library, Juniors in the Commons, and Seniors in the Competition Gym.
