Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is the senior's last day of regular class. Seniors not taking the semester test will be checking out with you today. Part of the process is to check with the office and the library.

Seniors will need to take their test with in their classes Monday or Tuesday. I do need all grades finalized by 3:30 on Tuesday so they can be stored. Amy will need to run the last of the academic awards that morning before practice.

The following paragraphs are reminders from last week. If it is in bold, it is new and I wanted to draw your attention to it.

Mr. Wingert has graciously volunteered to help check in senior computers. He will be in the library and all seniors will go in there and check in the computers. He will put them in stacks for each senior advisory and then have students help get the computers to the correct room.

For the other students, we will check in computers on May 24. On this day I will be sending the students to advisory for the last 10 minutes of the day. There will be a different bell schedule for that day. I will need you to make sure the computer/charger checked out to them matches what is on the spreadsheet. This is the link to the google spreadsheet where the computer devices were inputed: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JZK3vWWQKzIVmzR072YWtEXDrmcPitam0-lihzuOatw/edit?usp=sharingBruce is asking for your assistance in making sure the machine isn't damaged. If it is damaged, please set it off to the side and make a note about it. You will want the students to power on their computers so you can see if the screen is cracked or not working.

Schedule for 5/24

During advisory on Monday, Sophomores and Juniors will meet in the competition gym to learn about a new program starting here next year called iJAG. iJAG stands for Iowa Jobs for America's Graduates. It is a program that will serve between 40-60 students who are risk of dropping out. It assists them in the areas of career development, leadership development, service learning, and civic and social responsibilities. This is a 12 month program, so this person will still work with these students during the summer and one year after graduation. iJAG is currently taking applications through www.indeed.com. This employee will work for iJAG, but we will provide a classroom for them. They will teach a class for 4 periods throughout the day and then will be working on helping these students find internships, potential college's to attend depending on interests, taking these students on college visits, etc.

I won't be able to approve any more personal leave for May 19, or 20. We have double digit subs those days. Thanks for your understanding on this.

On May 26, the students district wide are dismissed 2 hours early. All district staff will be expected to meet in the high school commons by 2:00 pm for the departing staff recognition.

Have a great weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings

It has been a busy week to wrap up the Senior's final week.  Fortunately, it hasn't been for many of them.  Please take time today to remind students they still have the same expectations they have had all year.  Add that we are less understanding of students choosing to behave poorly in the final weeks of school so they should expect consequences.

It is the final round for Teacher Duty.  Thank you for everyone's efforts to monitor students before and after school.  As we finish out the year, and having more behaviors, it is important to make sure you are at your locations on time.  Please be out in the hallways during passing as well. 8 regular days left!

I sent this out several times but a reminder: If you have Seniors on the Semester Test list it has been shared with you and they should all be well aware if they need to take them or not.  I will share out the Final Semester Test list for 9-11 grade students on Monday.  Please let them know that day so I can determine if there are any mistakes.  I updated most of the attendance contracts with students yesterday and will finish up the rest today.  Please email me if students are making up time for those contracts.

I know we have multiple students whose attendance has been less than stellar recently.  We will email teachers if there are any changes in expectations but there are very few of those at this time.  For now, students are expected to be in class and complete all work in order to earn their grades.
