Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Thank you for your discussions during in-service. There was a common theme coming out of all the groups and it deals mainly with student maturity/behavior issues. This is a good time for us to hit pause and maybe reteach expectations. If a student struggles after the reteaching, they may need to come in and have a private reteaching session. I also heard we are having an issue with students doing homework. If that is the case, reach out to the parents to let them know that if their student comes to class and does not have their homework done, they will be staying after school to do this. Way back when I was still in the classroom, I would take students out to football practice with me so they could finish their homework and then give it to me so they could leave. After a couple times doing this, the students knew I was serious, so they just did it so they didn't have to come to practice with me.
I know there were several PASS Plans during conferences, but there are several more students that may need one. All plans need to be completed by Nov. 17. Also, please make sure I get a copy of the plan. When I get one, I'll put it on the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet can be found on my website. If you see that a name is not on the list, then I didn't get the PASS Plan.
Please make sure you are uploading you meeting notes to the PLC Evidence folder on the pd website. https://sites.google.com/lemarscsd.org/lchspd/home. Our next extra hour meeting is Wednesday, CIA will send out an agenda.
Next week we have our next Star Assessment, it will be given on the 20th. Remind students during advisory that this assessment tells us where they are at. It may indicate that they need more support in reading or math. It is important that they try on the screener.
Enjoy your weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings
Please be discussing with students, especially Freshman, the importance of grades and credits. Many do not understand how they grades will be calculated which is 80% Summative and 20% Formative. There is also a split of 45% for each quarter plus 10% for the Semester test. Please remind students to make sure they understand. If they are passing at least 4 classes they will still be eligible for activities after the quarter. If they do fail, unfortunately, summer school may be the only option if they do fail too many classes.
Truancy rates hit a record high this week. 7 of the regular ones on the list have moved but we have been waiting to transfer them. This should be completed by next week as we have heard from all of them. We do have several students on the list that may be going to the ILC. We will try to keep you updated when we do make a change.
Reminder for teachers on my evaluation schedule, please sign up for a time with me soon. I would like to have two completed in the first semester.
Have a great weekend!
