Happy Friday! Thank you for all you hard work and dedication this year! To close out Teacher Appreciation Week, there is lunch in the lounge today. Again, thank you for all the time and sacrifices you have made to help our students along their journey.
This last Wednesday, we had 18 students participate in the ILC graduation ceremony. Students that graduated are: Cole Aeder, Edward Archer, Jadin Bartlett, Haley Bebout, Aspen Doss, Couric Eastgate, Dillon Fredrickson, Cody Hanks, Brady Hansen, Tristan Hansen, Lulitte Harms, Noah Holder, Curtis Kunkel, Emalie Ladenthin, Jacob Looyenga, Michael Timp, Ali Uden, and Alie Weiler. Thank you to Julie and Michelle for working with these students and helping them along their journey. For those who were unable to attend the ILC graduation ceremony, you missed one of the nicest celebrations I have been able to be a part of or witness. Thank you to the teachers who took the time to write a letter to the graduates and then come and read it to them at the ceremony. That memory will stick with them for a lifetime! The room was also filled to capacity as Julie estimated there were over 220 people there to witness the graduation. Josh Delutri and Liz Olson also graduated, but did not participate in the ceremony.
Our graduation ceremony will be on Sunday, May 20 at 3:00 pm. There are still a few students on the bubble. We will need senior grades updated by Wednesday by 2:00 pm so Amy can finish running our top 10 percent and the other awards for the awards ceremony at 6:30 that night. Senior grades will be stored one final time Thursday morning for any other grades that may have been changed.
May 30 and 31 will be the semester test days for everyone else. We will take periods 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7 on the 30th and periods 3, 4, and 8 on the 31st. Teacher checkout will be on June 1. Beth, Neal, and I cannot sign your checkout sheets until after noon.

One more quick comment on data collection before we meet next week! Remember, strategies are not activities. Strategies describe YOUR actions that will change the thinking of your students and directly target the prioritized needs we identified during the analysis step. The strategies you choose will modify your instructional practice. You and your team will want to agree on research-based strategies that are specific enough to be replicated, including the implementation from teacher to teacher, how often you will use that strategy with students, and where you can find (and share) the resources you need to make it happen. It's not a quick process, and it won't happen overnight, but without taking the time to identify these critical strategies, we will not have any way to know if our actions are creating the desired results in our students.
