Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a good week. Next week's forecast is starting to look more and more like spring. With prom almost behind us, we start to look towards graduation. Seniors' last day of class is May 14. They will take semester tests on May 15 and by noon on the 16th. The awards ceremony will be on the 16th at 6:30 pm. On May 17, seniors will have breakfast and graduation practice. Graduation will take place on May 20 at 3:00 pm. 

 On Monday, Seniors will meet in the Little Theater to go over a details and to fill out the Senior Exit Surveys. Please have the other grades fill out the mid term reflection sheets. 

 On Tuesday, Iowa Director of Department of Education, Dr. Ryan Wise, will be in our district in the morning. He will be touring the high school CTE areas around 9:00 am. We will try to get to all areas depending on what time will allow. 

 On April 25, we have our 2nd extra hour meeting this month. Please continue to work on your curriculum work. Our extra hour meetings next month are on May 2 and 9. The district in-service day is on May 16. During this meeting we will go over the Iowa Assessment Data. We can only order 5 test booklets per grade level so we will need to share. This meeting will take place in the library.

 Next week, Juniors will be taking our local assessments in their English, math, and science courses. We will not be giving the random sample test anymore. 

 The board is revisiting the last day of school again on Monday. I am sure Dr. Webner will send out another email, if the date changes or stays the same.

 Don't forget to get your contracts turned in. You can give them to me or send them directly to Central Office.

Assistant Principal's Happenings

Student council and class officer elections will take place on April 30th via computers.  Please allow students to vote on that day and encourage them to give their input.

 Please encourage students to get their time made up if they are on an attendance contract.  Reminder letters have been sent home, but if a student is spending extra time before or after school, or during their lunch period with you, then please let me know so that I can count the time they have completed.  Updated list has been shared with you on google docs.

You may or may not have heard that Gmail will be getting a face lift soon. Along with the new look will be some new features. One of those features are self-destructing emails.

 The latest release of the web browser, Chrome 66, mutes autoplay videos as a default setting.  You’ll still see autoplay videos, but you won’t hear them unless you have a habit of clicking on them. The auto-unmute is based on whether you’ve engaged with autoplay videos on that particular site in the past or have that site saved to your home screen on your mobile device.

New in Google Slides: linking in Docs, guides and rulers, and improved commenting.

 classroomscreen.com looks just like your normal background of your computer but it is so much more. It has several built in widgets that you can quickly and easily project onto your screen including a clock, a timer, a traffic light, text, drawing, and a random name selector.   Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week.  On Monday, I attended a DCAP workshop. You may be asking what is a DCAP workshop? DCAP is our District Career Academic Plan. Just like the student ICAP, Individual Career Academic Plan, the district must have one also. In the DCAP, we spell out what we are doing to prepare our students for college career readiness and employability skills. The DCAP consists of 7 sections, the main sections deal with course planning, work-based learning, and 5 essential components of ICAP.  The course planning section deals with the students 4 year plan and how the students and parents are advised on progress towards graduation. This is why we have the grade level registration meetings, our 8th grade CTE day, 8th grade parent meeting, etc so we can meet this requirement.  I am sure by this point, you are asking yourself how does this apply to me?   Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. We made it through graduation breakfast, practice, and award night. I was thinking that Wednesday is just as about as busy of a day as the Friday of homecoming for me.  This will be the last Friday Focus for the school year, so I'll try to remember to have everything you need to know to get through the last week of classes. Please remember contracts are due to Central Office on the 23rd. I do have a basket on my desk where you can turn it into me and I'll get it to Central Office.   We will be running the advisory schedule on Monday. On Tuesday, we will use the last day of school schedule. On the last day of classes students will be checking out. Please sign their check out sheets. If they have school property that needs to be returned, please document it on the sheet. During advisory that day, they will turn in their laptops.   Friday Focus Happy Friday!   I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is midterm of the 1st quarter. Please make sure all grades are up to date. Amy will run midterms and we will hand them out during 8th period.   I have had my first PASS plan turned in, congrats to Ms. Hommes to be the first one to get one done. Unfortuately is is for a senior that needs his credits. Next week is homecoming, let the fun begin. Monday night at 7:30 pm is the coronation. Come out to the competition gym to see who will be crowned this year's King and Queen.  On Monday, we will have class meetings so students can sign up for the different competitions. Freshmen will be in the Little Theater, Sophomores in the Library, Juniors in the Commons, and Seniors in the Competition Gym. Teachers with the asterick by their name in the Teacher Handbook are the lead teachers and will need to take charge of these meetings.  Dress up days for Homecoming Week. YOU CAN PARTICIPATE!...
