Happy Friday! This will be my last Friday Focus of the school year. I hope you all have had a great week. We made it through graduation practice and the awards night. I am trying to decide which day is busier, the homecoming Friday or this past Wednesday. Although I was rather impressed with the seniors this year, they actually listened and did a good job.  I met with Judd and Melissa this week to discuss summer school. Right now, we show quite a few students that are failing one or more classes. If the student ends up failing your class, please look at the percentage and if they are close please consider credit recovery as an option. If credit recovery is not an option, then the student will take the class on Edmentum.  Just a reminder on our expectations for semester tests. Students will need to remain in the classroom the entire testing time. They can not leave early to go to another room or to leave the building. ...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. Don't forget about lunch in the lounge today. Adam and I would like to thank you all for everything you do for our students.  Today is the last day for our Seniors. If they are not taking your semester test, please sign their checkout sheets today. Seniors will need to turn in the Chromebook to the library. Cody and/or Tracy will be in there to collect the computers. Seniors will take their semester tests on Monday and Tuesday. They need to have all the tests done by the end of 4th on Tuesday. Senior final grades are due at 8:00 am on Wednesday, May 15. I have been asked about the semester tests for other the other grades. Students will need to remain in the classroom the entire testing time. They can not leave early to go to another room or to leave the building. A student may move a test if it benefits you, otherwise they need to take it when they are scheduled. Remember, the...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, on Friday Mr. Moss and myself will be providing lunch. A huge thank you to the entire staff for all you do for our students.  Last week, I attended an AI workshop in Des Moines and found it really cool on what you can do. In the morning we were able to play with different AI tools and in the afternoon we discussed ethical uses and creating guidelines. This student guideline poster is good starting point for discussions on how we can teach students the appropriate use of AI. One thing that I learned is that AI checkers will be obsolete within 3 years. I also learned that programs like Grammerly are AI based and that will set off the AI checkers. Also, any computer program that will offer you word suggestions as you are typing use AI to do this. I know we have some students that use Grammerly, so if you accuse a student of using AI, just kn...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. The seniors are getting closer to graduation. I have several that are failing classes that are needed for graduation. I encouarage you to call home and talk to the parents to let them know what their student needs to get done to pass your class. I am also communicating with parents, but I can't tell them what needs to be done to pass. Seniors final day of class is May 10. They will take semester tests on May 13 and 14. On May 14 all tests need to be done by noon. Senior grades are due at 8:00 am on May 15. This is a hard deadline as Amy will need to run final awards for that night. All seniors will need to have 50 credits at this time or he/she will not be walking at graduation.  On May 7, Dr. Webner will be holding staff information meetings on the facility study and possible buildings. He will hold 2 meetings in the HS/MS complex that day, one from 7:40-8:00 am and another from 3:40...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. I am still on hold on the master schedule with 4 positions currently being advertised. I eventually will need to make some tough decisions on how we will cover classes if we don't get any applicants.  As we are getting 4th quarter going, remember today is the midterm and the last day to have had PASS Plans. Any student at risk of failing your class will need to have a meeting and the form will need to be turned into me so I can document the meeting. You all have access to the spreadsheet if you need to see if I have a form from a meeting you attended. Mrs. Davis will run midterm reports today to have you hand out to your 8th period class.  The seniors are getting closer to graduation. I have several that are failing classes that are needed for graduation. I encouarage you to call home and talk to the parents to let them know what their student needs to get done to pass your class....

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. Looks like it will be nice and warm this weekend. We are getting closer to the end of the school year. I am kind of on hold with the master schedule to see what happens with our openings. If you have not heard, Alayna Bus will be leaving us to go to Central Lyon next school year. If you know of a FACS teachers, please encourage them to apply for our opening.  On Monday, the students will be taking the Conditions for Learning Survey during advisory. This survey no longer impacts our score on the Iowa Performance Profile. Please encourage the students to answer truthfully and to think of their whole experience and not a one time event. Mr. Kopperud will be getting you the student codes that they will need to log into the system. Their is a link to the survey on the high school website. Go to www.lemarscsd.org and click on high school. The link for the survey is located at the top of the page a...
