Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Next week is ISASP week. Please reinforce with students to do their best. We are evaluating an proposal that would give opens to Juniors who are proficient on ISASP their Freshmen and Sophomore year and meet a certain GPA requirement. You can let the students know that the administration is looking into this as a way to help motivate students.
Just a reminder during ISASP, please keep students in the classroom. If you hear noises in the hallway, please stick your head out of your room and get the students moving to where they should be. The reading and math subtests will be on Monday and Tuesday and the writing and science subtest will be on Wednesday and Thursday.
I have met with a number of seniors who were failing classes at the quarter. If you have a senior that is failing a class, especially a core class please keep on them to get their grade up.
On Monday and Tuesday of this week, Mrs. Leavitt, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Schindel, Mrs. Ludwig, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Collins, and I attended a workday for our target status. We went through the SAMI process. During these 2 days, we had lots of conversations around MTSS, interventions in literacy, math and SEBH. SEBH is Social Emotional Behavior Health, the new SEL verbiage. We will be finalizing our improvement plan once the state make that available.
Prom is coming up quickly. Next Friday, the Prom committee will start decorating and getting things ready for Saturday night. Early forecast is sunny and 52.
Coming up on April 17, we will be giving the Conditions for Learning survey during advisory. I will send out further instructions on what message we need to reinforce with the students prior to them taking this survey.
Have a Great Weekend!

ISASP Week! Please keep students out of the hallways and quiet during classes so we can have students do their best on their tests. Remind students ahead of time of the expectations for phones and computers and make sure they have books to read when finished testing.
I have sent out the information for students to get their Opens as part of the Service Learning Project. Part of the expectations is for Juniors to earn Proficiency or show a year’s growth on their ISASP. I made that clear in my message to them but please make sure you go over that part before Juniors take any ISASP tests. It is important for them to try or they won’t have a chance to earn Opens until the first Midterm. I will also send this to Junior Advisors later next week to go over with each Junior Advisory on April 3rd. I will send those individuals more information on that later.
I will be asking for Handbook updates pretty soon. If you notice any concerns in the Handbook or errors, please let me know so they can be corrected for next year.
Prom is coming up on April 1st. We typically have some students out setting up decorations during the week. Remind students these can count as hours towards their Opens. If you want to come to see the students dressed up, the Grand March starts at 7:30.
I will be out again on Tuesday for the final day of the Crucial Conversations Training. I will have access to my phone during that time so feel free to email me of any student concerns.
This time of the year gets busy and we have a lot of students participating in extracurriculars. Please keep attendance updated. We have had multiple students (10+) who have been unable to practice this Spring Season already due to missing classes. Hopefully, this will help reduce the number of truants we have been seeing.
