Happy Friday! This is our last Friday in March, the school year will be done before we know it. Fourth quarter midterm is on 4/13. That means all PASS Plans need to be completed by this date. We are also starting to get ready for summer school. Please talk with Judd or Melissa about students that failed first semester or could fail this semester. Some of you may have already done this and don't need to do it again. We are still working out the details to summer school.  I am happy to report that all of our teaching positions have been filled for next year. We have hired Josie Krook to replace Mr. Ewing. Josie is a graduate of Coe College and did her student teaching at Linn Mar High School. This semester, she has been long-term subbing in Marion.  We will be running a different schedule for the Conditions of Learning Survey on April 20. The Conditions of Learning Survey will be given in the student's advisory. All students will take the surve...

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week. The warmer temperatures have been nice. As the weather warms, some students will start to think summer is here already. Please keep the students working in the classrooms and focused on their classwork.  I will not be in today, in fact, as you are reading this Tanner is warming up for the Midwestern Championship swim meet. He may even already have his first event done this morning. This meet does wrap up Tanner's short course season.  All of the teachers should have received their contract for next school year. Everyone else will receive it after the meet and confer sessions have concluded. I do have a basket on my desk that you can put your contract in and I'll get them to central office.  We have hired a new special education teacher, Tami Fisher will be joining the high school staff. Tami spent this school year with the AEA and the previous 20 years at the middle school. Tami will be ...

Happy Friday, I hope everyone has had a great week. It feels like the weeks are going by faster and faster. Thank your for your attention Wednesday during the ISASP security training video. I know that was very dry and hard to stay focus on for the 30 minutes. It just goes and shows you how important it is for us to break up our lessons. Think of how your students would have done sitting through that video.  During Advisory on March 21, I want grades 9-11 to do the practice writing test. I don't care if they get it done, but I want them to see what the test will look like. The practice test can be found here: https://iowa.pearsonaccess.com/test-prep/. The English, Math, and Sophomore Biology teachers will handle the practice reading, math, and science tests.  On the 16th we will take the Star screener tests one last time prior to the ISASP. Please remind your students to do their best and to not rush through it. We can see how long it takes the...

Happy Friday, I hope everyone has had a great week. As we enter the month of March, this is my reminder to take care of yourself. The period between President's Day and spring break can become a long stretch and our patience will start to thin. Before dealing with a negative behavior, take a deep breath and pause. Remember the students are not plotting on how to make our lives difficult. We are dealing with kids whose brains are not fully developed and don't think about what they are doing.  We are getting closer to getting a master schedule for next year. Monday - Thursday, Judd and Melissa will be attending a training on how to build a master schedule. From that training, we should get a good jump on getting it done, but I am sure we will need more time to finish it up. I do have all the number meetings complete now. If something changes from when I met with you, I'll come and talk with you about the change.  On Wednesday next week, we do have our ...
