Happy Friday, I hope everyone has had a great week. As you can tell, we have had a number of kids out sick this week. It is important to make sure your Schoology site is kept up to date, so students can see what they are missing. Let your classes know that you expect them to check the site if they are able to. If they do not have internet access, we do still have access points available. There are some requirements they need to meet though in order to get one of those access points. 

For those that have not heard, Mrs. Permeswaran and Mr. Fitzgerald have both decided to retire at the end of the school year. We are in the process of setting up interviews for the English position. Another staff change for next year is that Mrs.  Schindel will be moving to Special Education. She will be taking the new position that we tried to fill for this semester. We did start to advertise Mr. Fitzgerald's position, so if you know any American History/Sociology teachers encourage them to apply. 

We hosted our annual 8th grade registration night. It was lightly attended compared to previous years. I would like to thank Ms. Bomgaars for coming that night to discuss the Spanish classes. Mr. Kopperud went over the graduation requirements and electives open to Freshmen, then Mr. Formanek reinforced how credits work and eligibility, then I brought it home, discussing concurrent enrollment classes, importance of the ACT/GPA for college, and different career pathways. Since Kyle and I are gone today, we are postponing the shelter drill to Friday, 1/28 at 11:00 am. On Wednesday, 1/26, we have an extra hour meeting. The teachers that presented their lesson should now be presenting their results and then the group reflect on how the lesson went and ideas on where things can be tweaked. Midterm for Q3 is on February 2, we will hand those out 8th period on the 3rd.

Assistant Principal's Happenings

Just a reminder that Dr. Iverson and I will be gone today.  I will also be gone next Thursday to get tubes in my sons' ears.  Hopefully, that will be the start of not having so much sickness in my house this year!  As always, please remember to be present in the hallways.  We have some rumblings between several students so if they know teachers are present they are more likely to behave.  If you have any concerns please email me and I will handle those when I am back.  If there is any major issues, the Middle School principals will be available in the morning and Mrs. Leavitt will be around in the afternoon.

Remember to send me any incompletes that turn into F's.  I will bring those students in then and explain the ineligibility process.  We still have quite a few incompletes out there so make sure if you see any students that are left on your list to give them a deadline and a reminder to finish their incomplete or it will become an F.  If needed feel free to have the office call them in during your prep so you can discuss it with them.


Finally, we have a lot of students that are on the truant list that we know are no longer here.  We have 5 students that we are waiting to transfer out to the ILC and several that have moved that we are waiting for transcript requests.

  Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week.  On Monday, I attended a DCAP workshop. You may be asking what is a DCAP workshop? DCAP is our District Career Academic Plan. Just like the student ICAP, Individual Career Academic Plan, the district must have one also. In the DCAP, we spell out what we are doing to prepare our students for college career readiness and employability skills. The DCAP consists of 7 sections, the main sections deal with course planning, work-based learning, and 5 essential components of ICAP.  The course planning section deals with the students 4 year plan and how the students and parents are advised on progress towards graduation. This is why we have the grade level registration meetings, our 8th grade CTE day, 8th grade parent meeting, etc so we can meet this requirement.  I am sure by this point, you are asking yourself how does this apply to me?   Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. We made it through graduation breakfast, practice, and award night. I was thinking that Wednesday is just as about as busy of a day as the Friday of homecoming for me.  This will be the last Friday Focus for the school year, so I'll try to remember to have everything you need to know to get through the last week of classes. Please remember contracts are due to Central Office on the 23rd. I do have a basket on my desk where you can turn it into me and I'll get it to Central Office.   We will be running the advisory schedule on Monday. On Tuesday, we will use the last day of school schedule. On the last day of classes students will be checking out. Please sign their check out sheets. If they have school property that needs to be returned, please document it on the sheet. During advisory that day, they will turn in their laptops.   Friday Focus Happy Friday!   I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is midterm of the 1st quarter. Please make sure all grades are up to date. Amy will run midterms and we will hand them out during 8th period.   I have had my first PASS plan turned in, congrats to Ms. Hommes to be the first one to get one done. Unfortuately is is for a senior that needs his credits. Next week is homecoming, let the fun begin. Monday night at 7:30 pm is the coronation. Come out to the competition gym to see who will be crowned this year's King and Queen.  On Monday, we will have class meetings so students can sign up for the different competitions. Freshmen will be in the Little Theater, Sophomores in the Library, Juniors in the Commons, and Seniors in the Competition Gym. Teachers with the asterick by their name in the Teacher Handbook are the lead teachers and will need to take charge of these meetings.  Dress up days for Homecoming Week. YOU CAN PARTICIPATE!...
