November 19, 2021
Happy Friday! Only 2 more teaching days to go (not including today) before our break for Thanksgiving. I won't be writing a Friday Focus for next week, so I hope you are able to rest and relax during the break. When we come back, we will only have 14 days of instruction and 3 days of semester test.
Hopefully you all have seen the email from Mr. Ludwig regarding toner and copies. Please plan accordingly for semester tests. If you can give it using Schoology, I am sure it would be appreciated.
Now that we are pass our 2nd quarter midterm, I will be meeting with Seniors that are in jeopardy for graduation. Mr. Formanek is also pulling opens from seniors who are failing classes.
We will start our registration process for next school year in January. I do not want to take away first semester days since it is shorter. The plan is to do our 8th grade career day mid-January and the 8th grade parent's night around that same time. Mrs. Hill and Mr. Kopperud will come around to different classes to talk to the other grade levels.
When we get back from break we will have our last extra hour meeting of 2021. That will be on Dec. 1. The district in-service day is on December 8. On the 8th, you will fill out a Midterm evaluation of our PD/PLC process. From 3:00 to 4:00, everyone will meet with their middle school counterparts. The meetings will take place in the following rooms.
Math - Mrs. Carter’s Room
Science - Mrs. Sadoski’s room
SS - Mr. Milledge's room
CTE - Mrs. Kruse's room
Art - Mrs. Anderson’s room
Spanish - Ms. Bomgaars' room PE - Mr. Bork's room
Semester tests will be on Dec 17 - Periods 1, 3, 5, & 7 and December 20 - Periods 2, 4, 6, & 8. December 21 will be the make up date. Students will report to all classes except study hall. They may be excused from Success Center or Resource Room if they are caught up. Students that choose to stay in the building will need to report to the commons.
Like last year, final grades will be due on December 21 before you leave for the day. You will need to make sure you put all comments into the S1 comment slot. Report cards will not go until January 4.
Enjoy your weekend!
Assistant Principal's Happenings
I've been busy updating Attendance Contracts and tardy discipline. Today, I will run another tardy report and give out the rest of the detentions for those that haven't received them yet. Out of the 50 original students, 75% have completed their time- some still have quite a bit and I will add that to an Attendance Contact if they continue to not complete it.
While the overall number of F's is up, our Seniors have been doing pretty well. I know several have been working hard to get their grades back up as well and those that have plans I gave until Tuesday to go over grades again and come up with a plan to finish the semester. I did take several students' Opens yesterday. Please make sure we continue to make sure they are focused on finishing the semester so they are in good shape for graduation.
Looking ahead a bit- I will be completing training over Special Education Law Dec. 1st-3rd from 1-3 each day. We have more numbers and more needs so we are working to make sure we are accommodating to each student.
Please enjoy your Thanksgiving break!
