Happy Friday! We have made it to the end of the semester. I know when we began this school year, I didn't think we would make it this long back with everyone here. This is a testament to the dedication and follow through by the staff. I am very proud of how you have all handled the situation this year. I know the stress levels are still high, and that some days we are doing everything we can to keep it together, but students are learning. Please don't focus on what you didn't get covered this semester compared to others. This semester was stacked against you. When we started, students hadn't been in the classroom since March 13, I shortened first semester by 8 days to get it done before break, students were gone due to quarantine and isolation, and you had to do lots of reteaching during the semester. Instead focus on what the students and you did accomplish this semester. Sometimes, as secondary teachers, we get too focused on our content. I know that was my mindset when I was in the classroom. This year, we needed to take a step back and instead of focusing on what I need to cover, we need to focus on the whole student. I doubt they will readily admit it, but the students are also stressed and have anxiety more so this semester than any semester we have had before. As you wrap up this semester, I hope you take the time to reflect on how this semester went for you. If it went well, great, if it didn't go as planned, why didn't it? When we come back from break we will be starting 2nd semester. This is the time to try a different approach to your classroom, maybe instead of being instructor centered, we need to shift to a student centered classroom. But again, I am proud of what we have accomplished this semester. You all deserve this break, make sure you spend this time relaxing and not thinking about school. Have a Merry Christmas!
Final semester grades will be due at 2:30 pm on 12/22. Please make sure you finalize your grades. I shared out the video Adam Moss sent out last year. I will be storing grades before I leave for the break that day. I will also need the PASS Plan summaries before you leave on the 22nd for any student that failed a class.
Have a Great Weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings
Thank you all for the hard work and dedication everyone has put into making it through the first semester. Many schools across the country have yet to return to in-person learning. Everyday, we are setting new precedents that will be part of History. My children are young and won't remember much of this but I do hope they remember the extra time we spent together on the weekends instead of the usual traveling and visiting others. Please take time to relax and refresh over Christmas Break so we are ready to go in 2021! It feels good to say 2021 as this year has been unlike anything anyone experienced before. We will still face new challenges but I hope we continue to learn and adapt as they happen.
Please continue holding students accountable for masks. We had more write-up's this week than any other for mask violations. Please emphasize their importance as it has been crucial for staying in school. Please communicate with students that need to come in on Tuesday to complete work or make up tests. Try to get as many done as possible before the break so you won't have to worry about it when we get back.
