Happy Friday! As we wind down the month of October, we begin the part of the school year I always thinks flies. It always seems November and December are gone in a blink. Looking ahead to some dates to make sure you have on your calendar. End of the 1st trimester is on November 17. Midterm for 2nd quarter is on November 18. We have an extra hour meeting on November 4, this is the only one for November. District In-service is on November 11. We have an evac drill scheduled for November 5 at 10:10.
We are short several subs today, if Beth asks you to cover the class, we really need you to do this. I know she hates asking you to give up preps and that is our last resort. I am sending some kids to study hall today because we are short 3 subs.
With midterm coming up on November 18, you should be wrapping up PASS plan meetings. Please make sure I get a copy of the PASS plan so I can enter it into my spreadsheet. The last time I ran the at risk report we had 153 kids at risk of not passing 1 or more classes. I know several kids on this list have been absent from school or isolation or quarantine, so they will get their grade up to passing once work has been turned in. However, for those that are not doing the work, we need to have the PASS plan meeting. If it is easier to do hold one through google meets, then by all means make use of that technology.
Please remind students that have been quarantined or isolated more than once have the option to take classes as pass/fail. Their parents will need to notify the school by December 21 so we can get that info to you so you can change the gradebook grade to a P.
Have a Great Weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings
I hope everyone had a good week! I was able to get in quite a few classrooms and saw some high-level thinking by our students. Thank you for the invites and I will continue to work on stopping in more.
We have had an increase in truants the past couple of weeks. Please make sure you change the attendance as students come into class. The parents that pay attention do call and wonder why their kids aren't in class. If you have questions about where a student is let me know.
Mental health for students and staff has been on my mind this week. If you are struggling in an area please reach out to Dr. Iverson or me. If we can find a way to help in a class to give you some time to catch up on some work, we would be happy to do so. Dr. Iverson, the counselors, and I have sent out several emails this week on students who have been facing some challenges. The best thing we can do for some students is to listen and be supportive. We also have Plaines Area in the building so if you notice a student that might be struggling let us know and we can make a referral for them to get them the support they may need.
If you see any Cross County Runners in the morning, wish them luck!
Ideas from the library/video class/student council
Student council will be having a meeting this coming Tuesday during 1st hour. One of the projects the juniors have been working on since last spring is providing personal care items for students who may need them. They will be assembling some packages to put in the girls' bathrooms. Some travel-sized deodorant will be available in the boys' bathrooms too. Packets to go home (if needed) will be available in the nurse's office. If supplies need to be replenished, please let a student council member or me know.
Video Media 1 is learning how to do interviews right now. They will be assisting in CTE videos for 8th grade orientation. They are excited to be part of BulldogBites as well, so if you have something you would like covered, please let us know. Currently, video media is period 3 and period 6, but many have other study halls, so they may be able to come during a different class period.
