Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. Thank you for your patience on running the screener yesterday. It is nice to get a baseline on our students so we can see how thy progress through the year. This also gives us a snapshot of where some of kids may be sitting after being off of school since March.
As we complete our third week of school, please take the time to breath and relax. Tasks will get done, and learning will take place. It may not look like past years or you may think I am not as far along as I want to be, but that is fine. Just give your students your best effort. We are teaching them more than content right now, how we handle this situation models to them how to handle adversity. This will be a little hiccup in the big picture for all of us. I want to remind you that my door is open if you need to come and release some stress. I am confident that the year will get easier, and as we spread out the rooms, we will have fewer kids that need to be quarantined.
Just a reminder that we are ending the semester before Christmas break this year. Because of that, you may not want to wait too long to have a PASS Plan meeting with at-risk students and their parents. We do have conferences on October 8 and 13, but I would not wait until then.
We do have our evac drill today at 9:20 (weather permitting if it isn't raining, we will have it). Please remember to report your missing students to your lead teachers.
We have our first home football game tonight. There is reduced capacity at the game, only people working the game or on the list will be allowed to enter.
Have a Great Weekend!

Assistant Principal's Happenings
It has been great to see kids coming back and excited to get started again. Please have patience with those that didn't take advantage of the time but also be firm in the fact they will need to do the work. There are many kids at home that do not have the support necessary to have them do the work even when they are here so adding quarantine to that doesn't help. Be proactive with the Pass Plans as we could develop those early for students who didn't do work to get them back on track.
We have had 3 teachers take advantage of moving rooms for bigger classes. If you have classes where a single student could take out 6+ kids please consider moving even if it is just a class period, if you would like help with ideas please let us know too!
I made a few errors on dates when kids could return from quarantine, a few had today marked that were good to return. Please check attendance when kids get there and if they have a code send them to the office so we can get it sorted out.
Some Homecoming news: we are currently planning to do the coronation along with a Dance Team and Band Performance on October 1st at the Football Field along with the dress-up days during the week. I attended a Webinar on Homecoming ideas last weekend but a lot of those ideas involved kids gathering which isn't going to be a possibility at this time. If you have ideas that would involve social distance please reach out to me soon. Next week, Student Council will work to finalize plans.
Thank you for all of your efforts as we work through the new challenges each day!
Ideas from the library
Students and staff can access ebooks and audio books through our library system, Destiny, which then links them to MackinVia, an app that can be used on phones, tablets, and computers. They must log in to the library system first in order for a "backpack" to be created in MackinVia. One can search the ebooks/audio books in Destiny or through MackinVia. Usernames are firstlastname with the password: bulldogs IF that does not work for you, please email me, as I imported info from PowerSchool and may need to manually update staff members.
