Happy Friday! You have made it to the last school day of 2019! I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 

 Congrats to Nancy Isebrand for being named the December Employee of the Month!

When we come back, I would like you to print off your advisory Star Reading and Math results per student and hand them back to the kids on Monday, January, 6 and talk about the results. You may want to talk about how we are using these results to determine if they need extra assistance in class or in an different setting. If they know their results and we are using them to help determine areas of weakness they may see that they should give their best effort on them. When we come back, I plan on meeting with the students who were identified as needing immediate assistance and place them in the success center. 

 Looking ahead, semester tests will be on January 10 and 13. January 14 will be the make up day. Grades will be due then on January 15 at 8:30 am. I will store grades at that time and Mr. Formanek will run the eligibility lists and enter in the no credits for attendance contracts.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Please stop by the pot luck in Ms. Grell's room 5th hour.

 I want to let everyone know that we have had five students leave for 3+ weeks for family trips.  This is a difficult time of the year to miss school and as I was talking with Mr. Bahr, he reminded me that kids haven't changed much but their circumstances have.  There, unfortunately, isn't anything we can do to stop a 3-week trip but please remember, it isn't up to the kid usually going on that trip.  Please work with them and get them caught up as much as possible when they return.

 I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday break!  I believe I found a picture of Mr. Irwin's plans for Christmas Break.

Tracy's Technology Tidbits.

Image Hotspot (found at classtools.net) allows you to put hotspots on an image that students can click on and be given questions and/or information and/or a link to another website or Google form, or document etc. I made a quick example to demonstrate how it could look. 

 webjets.io could be an excellent replacement if you were a user of Padlet. If you are unfamiliar with either of these...think of them as putting information on  sticky notes and then putting those sticky notes onto a white board. You do need to create an account but this can be done easily using your Google Account. This could be a handy way for students to brainstorm ideas or to share multiple forms of information (text, images, videos, etc). Clicking on the hyperlink above and watching for about 60 seconds gives a solid example of what you could do with this.

 I want to share this slide deck from Steve Wick (no...not our Steve Wick). I just want to show you how one person chooses to present his daily agenda. It's on the screen when his students walk in and it's used at the end of the class to reflect on the class and plan for the next day. I personally enjoyed his Daily Engagements. Maybe something else will jump out at you.

 Finally, Steve's slide deck led me to another tool that was new to me....PictureQuotes. I know some of you are motivational quote loving people. This might be something you turn to find something to display regularly for your students. Maybe you use it to make your own motivational quote. Example 1  Example 2.

  Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week.  On Monday, I attended a DCAP workshop. You may be asking what is a DCAP workshop? DCAP is our District Career Academic Plan. Just like the student ICAP, Individual Career Academic Plan, the district must have one also. In the DCAP, we spell out what we are doing to prepare our students for college career readiness and employability skills. The DCAP consists of 7 sections, the main sections deal with course planning, work-based learning, and 5 essential components of ICAP.  The course planning section deals with the students 4 year plan and how the students and parents are advised on progress towards graduation. This is why we have the grade level registration meetings, our 8th grade CTE day, 8th grade parent meeting, etc so we can meet this requirement.  I am sure by this point, you are asking yourself how does this apply to me?   Friday Focus Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. We made it through graduation breakfast, practice, and award night. I was thinking that Wednesday is just as about as busy of a day as the Friday of homecoming for me.  This will be the last Friday Focus for the school year, so I'll try to remember to have everything you need to know to get through the last week of classes. Please remember contracts are due to Central Office on the 23rd. I do have a basket on my desk where you can turn it into me and I'll get it to Central Office.   We will be running the advisory schedule on Monday. On Tuesday, we will use the last day of school schedule. On the last day of classes students will be checking out. Please sign their check out sheets. If they have school property that needs to be returned, please document it on the sheet. During advisory that day, they will turn in their laptops.   Friday Focus Happy Friday!   I hope everyone has had a great week. Today is midterm of the 1st quarter. Please make sure all grades are up to date. Amy will run midterms and we will hand them out during 8th period.   I have had my first PASS plan turned in, congrats to Ms. Hommes to be the first one to get one done. Unfortuately is is for a senior that needs his credits. Next week is homecoming, let the fun begin. Monday night at 7:30 pm is the coronation. Come out to the competition gym to see who will be crowned this year's King and Queen.  On Monday, we will have class meetings so students can sign up for the different competitions. Freshmen will be in the Little Theater, Sophomores in the Library, Juniors in the Commons, and Seniors in the Competition Gym. Teachers with the asterick by their name in the Teacher Handbook are the lead teachers and will need to take charge of these meetings.  Dress up days for Homecoming Week. YOU CAN PARTICIPATE!...
