Happy Friday! Next week really gets busy for us in the office as Beth and Amy work on the final senior awards, Neal is making sure all the seniors have their time made up, and I am getting ready for the graduation ceremony. Seniors last day of class is Monday. If you want Mr. Martin to administer your senior semester tests, please get him the materials by Monday so he is ready for them. Make sure you put the student's name on the test. So when I ask Mr. Martin who has not taken their test yet, he will be able to tell me. Most seniors will have their testing done on Tuesday; those that have more than 4 classes may take some on Wednesday morning. The Senior Awards night is Wednesday at 6:30 pm in the competition gym. Finally, senior breakfast is at 9:00 am on Thursday, followed by practice at 10:00 am.
Next week Wednesday we have our final district in-service of the year. We will meet in the Library to go over our Iowa Assessment data. I will send out the sheet I want each group to complete. ELA, math, and science teachers will look at the data of the primary grade he/she teaches. The rest of the staff will look at the reading data for the primary grade that you teach. For those of you who don't have a primary grade, please use the sophomore data. Once your group is finished going over the data, the rest of the meeting will be spent wrapping up your curriculum work for the year so you know where you need to start next fall.
Just a reminder that I must have a PASS Plan on file in my office in order for a student to be given a "F" for a final grade. Any student that has not had a PASS Plan and has a failing grade will be given an Incomplete and will need to make up the work in summer school. It will be your responsibility to telephone the parents about this and notify Mrs. Addison or Mr. Borchers. For students who have had a PASS Plan and still fail the class, the end of course summary needs to be turned into me prior to checking out on Friday, May 26. The PASS Plan document is shared with you on your Google Drive.
This most likely will be my final Friday Focus of the year. I would like to thank Barry, Rhonda, Mark, and Kyle for their work with our students. Barry and Rhonda I hope you enjoy your retirement. Mark and Kyle good luck in your new adventures.
Don't forget about the retirement dinner at Archies on May 23. You may sign up on the teachers lounge door.
Have a great weekend!

Assistant Principal's Corner
Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman semester test list will be updated by Tuesday, May 16th after our seniors have completed their last day.
We have seen an increase with "spinners" in the school. Remind them to put them away and try not to make little things a BIG thing in these final days.
Librarian's News
All library books are due May 19. We have already renewed all books, so students will not be accumulating more fines.
SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens. However, you may enjoy some of the titles as well. Returning April 27 2017, SYNC will give away two complete audiobook downloads a week - pairs of high interest titles, based on weekly themes. Sign up for email or text alerts and be first to know when new titles are available to download at www.audiobooksync.com.
Please be aware that there are apps that allow students to access their phones on the computer allowing them to access anything on their phone. I came across a student using it during study hall this week. This student gave its use as to pull important files off the phone for school use, but I did catch the student texting. Just be aware if the screen looks different, and it looks like the student is texting, you are probably right.
