Happy Friday! We have completed first quarter, where has the time gone? Just a reminder grades will be due on Monday morning at 8:30. Report cards will be run and mailed home that morning.
Thank you to the English teachers for giving the 2nd round of STAR assessments this week. During your next PLC time, please look at the data and see how your students are doing. We need to continue to push the students to increase their reading comprehension skills.
I have seen some great lessons the past couple of weeks where the students are being pushed outside their comfort zones. One activity that I saw was in Ms. Bomgaars room where she had the students give a speech. Now many of us have the students give a speech, but this was in her Spanish 4 class where they had to do it in Spanish. In the few that I heard, you could tell they had to have a good grasp of the Spanish language.
Remember, if you are doing something new or a lesson you would really want me to come and see, please let me know.
During advisory on Monday please have your students do the 1st quarter reflections. There will be no Harbor video that day.
Have a great weekend!

Tracy W. had shared briefly about hyperdocs. While at edcamp, I learned more about them and ways to incorporate them. I created one a bit more specific to the research the sophomores and juniors do in English class as seen with this link: Research Hyperdoc However, if you want, I can revise it or help you create one that will fit with your research requirements. Just let me know!
Student Council Project Support Siouxland Soldiers: We will be gone to the state convention on Monday, October 31, so we will start picking up items in your rooms November 1. The middle school leadership group collected non food items and those will also be packed into the care packages. Thank you for encouraging students to help our troops. This year, all extra items will be taken to the armory in Le Mars where the National Guard will make sure it is distributed to veterans and troops' families in need from the area. We also would like to send a small thank you gift and acknowledgement to all LCHS alumni that are currently enlisted. If you know of someone, please email me the address.
