Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. This coming week will be the last week of regular classes for semester 1. Finals will begin on Dec. 18 with the odd periods and Dec. 19 with the even periods. Students will be required to take test during their assigned period unless they have an advance makeup or you have heard from Mr. Moss or myself. Grades, PASS Plan summaries, and incomplete forms will be due before you leave on the 20th for break. You will need to verify your grades, if you don't remember I have a throwback video for you to watch. Grade Verification Video

I have met with the seniors that are failing a classes where the credit is needed for graduation. They are aware of what is at stake. I have also entered all the PASS Plans that have been given to me into the spreadsheet. Please double check to make sure that students are on the list that have had PASS Plans, it is possible that I didn't get a copy of the PASS Plan.

Report cards will be sent home on January 3 when we come back and Mr. Moss will get the academic ineligible list out at that time also. At the end of a semester, in order for students to maintain academic eligibility, they need to pass all of their classes. If the student fails one class, the student in ineligible for 30 days if he/she is currently in an activity. If not, then it is 30 days from the first contest date.

Thought of the Week:  Self-Awareness

Short thought this week:  The importance of self-awareness -- not only for students, but also us as adults.  This comes from a very brief conversation I had with a colleague in the commons.  We were discussing the challenges of working with students that show disrespect toward authority -- specifically, keeping our cool while doing so.  

Our colleague said: 

"I've learned that I need to be self-aware of myself in that moment.  For instance, if I'm stressed or tired, I'm more likely to respond in a way that I regret later.  It's important for me to realize that I'm tired ahead of time and remember to take a breath.  The situation with that student really isn't worth raising my blood pressure over.  I wish I would have learned that earlier in my career."

Well said.  I need to remember this myself.  Colleague, thank you for your wisdom!  We are proud to be Bulldogs with you!
