Happy Friday! We made it to May. I hope everyone had a great week. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week and on Friday, Kyle and I will be providing lunch. Thank you for all that you do for our students. However, today someone on staff is celebrating the big 40! Happy Birthday Mr. Prichard.
Mr. Kopperud had the opportunity to present our top 10 seniors at the Rotary Club on Tuesday. That is always a fun time to see how the students interact with community members and it is nice that the Rotary invites the top 10 to come to this lunch meeting. Each year, they have a speaker that challenges the students to use their leadership and gifts to help others. It is a good message for the students to hear.
The seniors are down to 6 days left of classes. If you have a senior failing a class, it is important that you communicate with the family and myself. I have been running credit checks and there are 9 seniors that could be in trouble if they continue to fail the class or classes. Seniors have until May 17 to get all needed classes to passing in order to participate in graduation exercises on Sunday. Those that are not passing at that time, will be expected to come back to school on May 22 and work on the class or classes needed to pass to graduate. If by June 1, the class is still does not have a passing grade, it will be completed in summer school.
Cody Wurth has volunteered to help check in senior computers on the 12th. He will be in room 211 and all seniors will go in there and check in the computers. He will put them in stacks for each senior advisory and then have students help get the computers to the correct room.
For the other students, we will go to advisory the last 15 minutes of 8th period to check in computers. This will take place on May 26. All students will turn them in regardless if they are taking semester tests. If a student needs a computer for the test, have him/her use one that was checked in. Please make sure you mark everything on the google doc.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you for all the hard work you put in every day. It is a great privilege to work with such a dedicated staff and I will certainly miss all of you as I transition to the Middle School. Keep up the great work, and know that you are making a difference in the world, one student at a time.
The last month of school is always difficult to stay patient with students who have been pushing limits throughout the year. Please communicate your expectations with students when they are at the final straw. If they continue to push limits, remember you can give students detentions or send them to the office and I can give those consequences to them.
Mr. Kopperud has been working on the list for Summer School and will be sending out more information soon. If you have students who were close to passing classes, we can offer a credit recovery option where they can redo units and redo the summative assessments on those units. If they are not close then we offer an Edmentum course that the student will take. Mr. Bahr and Mrs. Fisher will be teaching summer school.
Enjoy your weekend!
