Happy Friday! Next week marks the end of the 19-20 school year. Thank you for all you have done this year and especially during this difficult time dealing with the pandemic. On Monday and Tuesday, we will have the students entering the school to clean out lockers and to turn in their books. Those of you working the doors will highlight students as they enter.  This will help us keep track of who does not show up. The outside doors will remain locked and you will need to open the door to let the next group in. At the doors, we will have tables positioned for students to put classroom books and computers on, there will be boxes for free reading books that belong to our English teachers, and boxes for music for Band, Choir, or Orchestra. We will also have hanging racks for tuxes or dress from the music department. Those that are working the senior door will need to check to make sure they filled out their post-secondary plan sheet. If they have not, we will have blank ones available for them to fill out and leave on the table.

For those of you supervising in the halls, we mainly need you to remind them to social distance and to keep them moving as they are only allowed 15 minutes. If a student has something in their locker that belongs to the school, have them set it on the ground by their locker. We will come around and collect those items. Please remind them to get their items out of the locker rooms also. Please everyone wear a mask, please refer to the communication sent out from Dr. Webner.

This will be my last Friday Focus of the school year. I would like to recognize those staff members who would have been honored at the Foundation Banquet in April. We have three members of our team that are celebrating their 25 year anniversary of working for Le Mars Community Schools. They are Nancy Isebrand, Bill Dalton, and Julie Roy. Thank you for your years of servitude to our community and helping the youth of Le Mars excel. We also had 3 employees recognized as Employee of the Month. They are Tami Dunn, Nancy Isebrand, and Amy Schmidt. Congrats again to these three. We have 4 people leaving us at the end of the year. Julie Roy will be retiring and enjoying her time with family and not worrying about if we have to do required, online learning next year! Adam Moss will be joining the AEA as a science consultant. We will probably see him around the building, but don't feel like you have to be nice to him anymore. Judy Zeka will be join Heartland AEA as a reading consultant. Katie Driggs will be leaving to take on new challenges. Good luck to all of them. and they will be missed around here.

I scheduled an all-staff meeting on May 22 on google hangouts, we can use this time to give any updates for the summer and a chance to say see you later. Hopefully you all can attend.

Enjoy your summer!

Assistant Principal's Corner

It was great to see Seniors earlier this week as they were picking up caps and gowns.  Some of them were clearly just waking up for the day as they were coming around noon.  The school building has felt very empty coming in everyday and seeing them was a great reminder of why we all put in the work we do.  Hopefully, we will know soon if we can have live graduation so you can all get a chance to see them for a final time at school.  I am also excited to have kids walking the halls even if it is only for a short period of time.

I've been having a lot of questions about Driver's Ed.  New guidance is given every week but we are currently sticking with the Virtual classes and all parents should have received letters about the expectations for this year along with instructions on logging onto Schoology.  If you hear any questions please direct them my way.

See you all next week!
