With the counselors beginning to have the registration talks with grades 9-11, they will start registering them soon. The goal is to have everyone registered by the end of February and then have the "number talk" the beginning of March.
Reminder, if you were supposed to be gone on Monday or Tuesday, please recall your leave request if you haven't done so all ready.
We have to make a change to advisory next week since Neal and I have Cabinet on Monday. We will have it on Tuesday, so Neal and I can meet with all Junior and Senior students in the competition gym to go over prom. For those of you who are not a junior class advisory or haven't heard we are hosting prom this year. Since we will be hosting prom, there will be a few changes. Starting at 6:00 pm there will be a catered supper. Students will be able to purchase dinner and dance tickets for $12 per person. Following dinner will be the grand march. This will take place in the competition gym. Following grand march will be the dance. The dance will be in Carey Gym. Tickets for just the dance will be $7 per person. Once a student comes to the school, they will not be allowed to leave. Students who leave will not be allowed back in. If you would like to see the full list of expectations, just drop me an email and I'll send you the info.
As we get into 3rd quarter, please do not wait too long to have PASS plans if you see a student who is already at risk. Most of the time, behaviors won't change without a little pressure. It is better to put that pressure on earlier than to wait for them to be in a big hole. When you have these meetings, please make sure to get me a copy of the plan. On the plan, we have a spot for follow up meetings or phone calls, please make sure you are following up with the parents on the agreed upon dates on the plan. I would prefer you talk to the parent rather than email.
We have our extra hour meetings on Feb. 14 and 28. Building in-service is on Feb. 21.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Be Extraordinary!

ThatQuiz is a free service for teachers that advertises using its online testing versus paper and pencil testing. I see it possibly being used as a skill site for practice. While it seems most catered to math (even calculus), it also offers vocabulary for 4 languages (including Spanish), Geography (Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia), and Science (cells, anatomy, elements, conversion).

InsertLearning is an extension that lets you turn websites into interactive lessons, and it is an excellent companion to your blended learning lesson plans. It even works with Google Classroom. This is a freemium pricing product. It allows you to use this with an unlimited amount of students and have all features for free. The catch is that it allows you 5 lessons. For $8/month or $40/year you can have unlimited students and all features and unlimited lessons. I would definitely recommend looking into trying some of the free lessons and see what you think.
