Happy Friday! We have almost made it through the month of September.
Just a reminder we have conferences on Monday and Thursday next week. I have been asked about doing PASS plans during conferences by a few staff members. This would be a good time to schedule this meeting with parents. If you schedule a PASS Plan, please let Amy Davis know so she doesn't make any reservations for you at that time.
Monday, Jostens will be here to meet with the Sophomores and Seniors. We will try to keep this to advisory, but the Senior meeting most likely will spill over into third period.
Jill Bomgaars is attending the Iowa World Language Association Conference on Oct. 7.
Student council is heading a food drive for Support Siouxland Soldiers during the month of October. Look for a message to be sent to you from our president about what items we need to have collect by individual classrooms. This is a wonderful project every year that helps us to send care packages to deployed troops and helps to support the 18,000+ Veterans that we have in the Siouxland area. The Student Council is planning to honor all veterans and current soldiers at the October 21st game vs. Humbolt. Please let us know if you know of a veteran that you would like to see recognized or if you know of an alumni who is currently serving, please contact Mrs. Isebrand or myself with that information.
DyslexiaFriendly is a Google Chrome extension that increases readability of web pages by allowing you to switch to a dyslexia friendlier font and providing some extra tools to facilitate the reading. You can choose to change the font on all web sites to either Open Dyslexic or Comic Sans. The visual appearance of all web sites is also enhanced with odd/even background shading of paragraphs and a vertical ruler that follows the mouse cursor.
Have you ever heard someone talk about an Ed Camp but you had no idea what they were talking about? Have you ever wanted to attend an Ed Camp but you couldn't find one nearby? Is it the price of an Ed Camp that scares you away? Don't stop reading....the opportunity of a lifetime is before you!!! On Saturday, October 15 from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Sioux Falls Christian Schools will be hosting a the East River Ed Camp. How much is this opportunity you may be asking yourself? It's FREE! Breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks ARE INCLUDED in the cost, which is FREE! Over $2,000 worth of books, software, and class licenses for all your favorite software. Click here to register.
We check lesson plans every week to keep on top of tests and quizzes, projects, and major assignments. Thank you to all of you who keep your plans complete and up to date; that makes it much easier for us to eliminate excuses and help students be more prepared for tests and quizzes. If you have a project or assignment where you anticipate students will struggle, please let us know in advance, and we will make sure our shared students have a little extra push to keep them on track.

Assistant Principal's Corner
Thank you to all who helped with our homecoming week. The week couldn't have gone off the way it did without all your support. The student council appreciates all that you do to participate in our fun days and to support the celebration of Le Mars Community Schools.Student council is heading a food drive for Support Siouxland Soldiers during the month of October. Librarian's Corner
Citing sources and using sources correctly continues to be my focus for September. Here are some other free photo sites as recommended by John Spencer, a professor, author and maker, as well as a blogger and creator of the Creative Classroom Academy. Eight Free Photo Sites. These photo sites do not actually require citation of sources, but it never hurts to keep practicing! As for music, the AEA provides royalty free sounds, music clips and songs through the site soundzabound found on www.iowaaeaonline.org All students have learned to use this site before the end of 6th grade. Again, if you ever need help in using or teaching with these sites, please let me know; I will be glad to help.Instructional Coaches' Corner

Success Center Update
This has been a crazy week in the Success Center. In addition to working with your students on reading and vocabulary, we have spent much of the week completing mid-term re-testing on all students who were on the "bubble" after the fall screening exam. Having that extra test score will give all of us more information on the skill levels of our students and will help to better direct instruction. If you need a quick refresher in how to access the reports that will be most helpful for you, send me a note. I will be glad to come and show you.We check lesson plans every week to keep on top of tests and quizzes, projects, and major assignments.
