Happy Friday! It is Homecoming next week. Hopefully the students will get a chance to see you all dress up for the different days. Thank you for your flexibility during homecoming, we may see this as a distraction, but most students still enjoy it. Remember to have fun with them at this time. It is a great way to build those relationships.

I will be gone on Monday, I have to attend a class for my evaluator license. You will still  be able to call me for a substitute that morning if needed.

With a different focus in the Success Center, it is difficult for Judy and Stephanie to administer or proctor tests, so please do not send students in there to make up a test. If you are in a bind, please talk to Judy or Stephanie first to see if they are able to proctor. Many times they are working with the students on the reading comprehension skills and will not be able to focus attention on other students that were not assigned to them.

Also remember, with the new focus in the Success Center, many of the homework completion items need to be addressed by the classroom teacher. Hold students to the late work policy, the students need to be trained and then expectations reinforced before you will see a change in the student behavior. If you need, request a meeting with the parents to communicate expectations and what needs to be done for the student to meet these expectations. It never hurts to talk with parents. You will always learn something, either 1. the parents are going to be part of the solution, or 2. you won’t have support at home, so that tells you what life may be like for that student.

Finally, I have had a couple of teachers talk to me about wanting to be on the grading committee. The SIT team will be meeting on Wednesday where we will start to discuss how many committee members we need and who to have on it. I would like to see representation across the various curricular areas, so if you are interested please let me know before Wednesday.

Have a great weekend!

Librarian’s Corner   Just a quick reminder: Please let your students know we have laptops to checkout for overnight use. They are supposed to have the forms on file before they check them out, so they need to know! I have had a few students ask already, so we have some forms printed out. Otherwise, they can be located at https://sites.google.com/a/lemarscsd.org/lcs-libraries/home
