Friday Focus  Happy Friday!  Today is the last day of ISASP and the block schedule. I would appreciate any feedback you may have on the week as I am always trying to find ways to improve how we give the ISASP.  It is hard to believe this is the last Friday Focus for March. The time is moving much too fast and there is so much left to do this school year. I am kind of at a stand still with the master schedule as we have the FCS opening for next year. If you know any FCS teachers, please help recruit them to apply for our opening. I have sent emails to ISU, Wayne State, and SDSWho?.  Today is the last day for the teachers to vote on the Plymouth County Bar Assocation Scholarship nominations. I will look at the voting on Monday and talk to some of you that said you would be willing to write a letter of recommendation. I do need those letters by April 4.  We will have a quick assembly next Friday at the start of second period. There is an announcment we would...

Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week. I will be gone again today, but this is Tanner's last swim meet of the school year. This is the meet he has been training for, so he is pretty pumped and ready to go.  This week I signed our first formal pre-apprenticeship agreement with the Carpenters Training Institute. Those students, if they are 18, will get a job with a contractor and then will continue on with the apprenticeship. If they are not 18 yet, they can sign on with the union and still start the classes, but can't get a job until he/she turns 18. After their first year, they are awarded a $1500 scholarship to pay for tools they will need for their job. This is an excellent opportunity for those students interested in a career in construction fie...

Friday Focus  Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week.  On Monday, I attended a DCAP workshop. You may be asking what is a DCAP workshop? DCAP is our District Career Academic Plan. Just like the student ICAP, Individual Career Academic Plan, the district must have one also. In the DCAP, we spell out what we are doing to prepare our students for college career readiness and employability skills. The DCAP consists of 7 sections, the main sections deal with course planning, work-based learning, and 5 essential components of ICAP.  The course planning section deals with the students 4 year plan and how the students and parents are advised on progress towards graduation. This is why we have the grade level registration meetings, our 8th grade CTE day, 8th grade parent meeting, etc so we can meet this requirement.  I am sure by this point, you are asking yourself how does this apply to me? This gets us into the next few sections with what we do in class matte...
