Happy Friday! Hopefully we are done with our weather days. Unofficially, our last day of school will now be May 29.
I have been asked by a couple of teachers about PASS Plans and extending the plans from first semester. I will allow this again, please include me in the communication home so I can document that the plan was extended. In your email home, ask for a read receipt so you know the parent received the email. If you don't get the read receipt, I ask that you call the parent so they are made aware.
Thank you for your input last Wednesday regarding our Honors Program. I will be working on building policy regarding academic dishonesty, retakes, and grading. Once I have this done, I will share it with you. I also plan to have a parent meeting for those that are interested in the honors program. This date is yet to be determined.
With the number of snow days, I am going to adjust the last day of the third quarter. The new midterm of 3rd quarter will be Feb. 8 and the new end date of the 3rd quarter will be March 15. The trimester dates are going to stay the same. Trimester 2 ends on Feb. 26. All PASS Plans for Trimester 2 are due on Jan. 26. Semester 2 and Trimester 3 PASS Plans are due by April 19.
On Thursday, the MTSS committee, Mrs. Leavitt, and myself met the the AEA to work on an Early Warning System. We are also working on formalizing our MTSS plan so we can share that with the staff in the 24-25 school year. The purpose of formalizing our MTSS plan is to make sure if we have turnover, the work that has been done doesn't disappear with that turnover. The Early Warning System that we are designing will help us identify students that are at risk of not graduating from high school sooner. The morning went well and we had some great discussion on what data we need to collect and how can we collect that data. We also realized that much of the work we are already doing can be used as interventions for the at-risk students. The MTSS committee is Jill Bomgaars, Tami Dunn, Ashley Ludwig, and Tracey Sadoski. They have been great to work with through this process. Part of the reason we are doing this process is because of our targeted status. We are in the middle of Year 2 of this work.
Also this week, I attended a zoom meeting dealing with our Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment or CLNA that needs to be done every 2 years for CTE. It seems this process is reinvented every time we have to do it. The DOE says that the process should be more streamlined than previous years. I'll let you know it that is true or not.
Looking ahead, we have a shelter drill on 1/25 at 9:55 am. The annual school board retreat is on January 29. Before the retreat, the board will meet to discuss the findings of the facility study. During the retreat, the boars will hear from the music staff and the administrators will go over the Iowa Performance Profile.
Have a great weekend, Here is to having a normal week.
Mark
