Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week! This coming week, the firm that the school district hired to do the facility study will be touring all the buildings next week. Jayden will be taking them around to look and the current condition of each building. Yesterday you received a survey asking for your input on how the building functions, what isn't working, future needs, etc. It is important that everyone fills out the survey. This is being sent to every school employee. In December the firm will make their report to the school board. From that the school board will determine the direction they will go. This information will also be used to update the 10 year facility plan.
I would like to welcome Mr. Kluver, who officially started on Thursday. A big thank you to Paul Fischer for postponing his retirement and filling in until Mr. Kluver could start.
Please keep the Heidbrinks in your thoughts and prayers as Doug's mom passed away on Tuesday. Prayer service will be Sunday night and the funeral on Monday in Minnesota.
I was asked about PASS Plans and parent no-shows. I would like you to attempt to schedule one more time. Please just don't send the parent the time and not check if that time will work. If the parent no-shows the second time, then just go over the PASS Plan with the student and have the student sign.
Some dates to keep in mind: Oct. 9 - Parent Teacher Conferences - note time is 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Oct. 19 - End of 1st Quarter, and Oct. 23 Qtr 1 grades due by 8:00 am.
Have a great weekend!MarkAssistant Principal's Happenings
Moment of Gratitude -- Many of you have been sharing your small daily wins, and that is really encouraging. Let's continue to spur one another on.
One more -- It's a lot of fun as an administrator to walk down the hall and listen to the conversations you have with parents. We have a building full of adults that love all the kids that come through our doors. You sacrifice on the regular for them. They are blessed to have you, and Mark and I are blessed to lead you.
Boys Town Training --
Thank you for allowing me to take two days to participate in Boys Town training. Over the next few weeks I will give you snippets of things I've learned. Hopefully it can benefit you, as well. I would love to have more conversations around these topics.
One of the main components of BT is actively teaching the behavior we want to see. It may sound silly, but we can't just expect our students to know how to act -- we must actively teach them how to behave. I've had those moments where I've thought "they should know that by now.....". Maybe they do know it, and need a reminder. Maybe they don't know it yet. In any case, BT stresses teaching social skills actively. Here is a taste of it. Please ignore the elementary-ish artwork -- our kids can benefit from these skills, too. More to come later.
Keep being awesome.
